Inverted beaver bond reflection in peaceful Lundy Canyon
After a sunrise shoot at the north shore of Mono Lake, our recent California TE summit visited Lundy Canyon in the Eastern Sierra Mountains. Pat Lim posted a beautiful reflection shot of this same area previously.
In addition to these great alpine reflecting ponds, Lundy Canyon features a nice hike that visits several waterfalls. I hope to post a picture of these in the days ahead.
Lundy is also good place to visit in the fall as its Aspens turn a brilliant yellow. And if the mountain road into Lundy is open in the winter, this is also a great place to snowshoe.
Regards,
Doug

If you invert this reflection, it may look almost as good as the real thing. Very well composed image with the pond taking giving away phenomenal reflections. The natural light at the moment was very good. I like the colours and the details seen throughout the image. Nicely done Doug.

Magnifique compostion... plus de reflet que d'autre chose... une eau lisse comme il se doit.
Vraiment de splendides couleurs.
Bravo!
A bientôt

Hi Doug,
Usually I'm not a fan of reflections, but here you achieved a wonderful result.

Hi Doug,
This was not an easy shot to frame and you succeeded brilliantly. It's the lower left triangle of grass and stumps that provide great balance for the perfect detail of the reflection. Good note too. HLJ, Pat

Great composition. I like the inclusion of just the shore line in the background and the stump, wood and greenery in the foreground. Great, deep, saturated colors also. Really sharp, especially for a reflection. Great work.

Doug, these reflections are quite awesome and I was really quite shocked at the first moment that we stopped at this place. I was in awe and I still am. You captured the essence quite well. The only thing that I'm missing is a beaver sitting on the foreground trunk and looking into your lense.
Your suggestion to do this in fall is quite inviting. Let's think about it!

A killer shot! It is right up my alley as this is exactly what I like to photograph. I wouldn't hesitate taking a bit off the top to eliminate some of the shoreline 'clutter' but this might crop the tip of the tree stump...JMHO. A winner in my book any day, Douglas.

Hi Doug,
Stunning detail, light and color. Wonderful logistics in planning the TE meeting, there was NEVER a dull moment, and there were great facilities to suit a widely varying group's needs. Regards, Larry

Hello Doug -
This is very nice. As you know I like reflections and this one is perfect. I like the use of the standing trunk and the down trunk to give reference and act as a leading line. There is not more that I can say without gushing but WOW. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Douglas,
Excellent POV that shows only the stunning reflection and not the mountain itself. The colors are fantastic and the details amazing to this wonderfully placid montains lake.

Wonderful shot! The composition is really great in this, with the reflection of the mountain on one side and the tree stump on the other side - this is well balanced. I'm just wondering if it would have been possible to cut out the far shoreline altogether, making this even cleaner and more powerful - just an idea. Fantastic stuff!

Perfectly composed shot Doug. I love inverted reflection shots like this. The calm water has created a very nice reflection of the mountain, and I like the way you balanced the shot with the tree stump on the left side.

Beautiful one, very well saturated (suc blue and greens, this is amazing). Reflections are so intense, this shot is a true eye catcher. Congratulations.

Doug,
This is a great shot. Of the three that you guys took, I think I like this one the most. Unique in that it is the reflection that is highlight, but is so clear. Very nice work.
Thanks for sharing,
Brian

Hi Douglas, I like your gallery of nature shots. This is one of my favourites. A perfect reflection and excellent light. I like how the mountain merges with the branches in the water. A dreamy image. Well done!

Hello Douglas! I always wanted to come back to this one but as time flies you sometimes forget what you wanted to do. There is so much to see in this photo that you have to stop and watch for a moment. I love the dead wood giving depth but also seeing the mountain upside down is a special feature. Excellent. Take care, Barbara.
