Photographer's Note
Titled from the "flame-like" motion image on his sax, it almost looks like he's blowing so hot his head is smoking! "Grumpy Old Men" trio live at The Salt Creek Grill. The keyboardist is Ed Ambrose(www.eddieambrose.com), saxman is Jim Gordon, and Cal Haines plays drums. Great jazz music, and they didn't seem the least bit grumpy!
Meandering from San Buenaventura to Carpinteria, then South on the "scenic route", the Pacific Coast Highway, through Malibu, for the last six hours, then, after Santa Monica, trying to beat the rush hour traffic on the 405 freeway, through Los Angeles, we pulled up the local jazz venues on the KJAZZ 88.1FM website. We asked if we could take pictures. They were quite happy, especially when we offered to share the pix.
Shot at slow shutter speed to capture movement. It appears that the movement is accentuated any glossy surface. I was amazed at how sharp the hands are when they are holding the sax which is moving. I used my elbows on the table in lieu of a tripod. Two alternate takes posted in the workshop.

Hi Larry,
Your well-framed compo shows the saxophonist and his instument well. That is an interesting phenomenom that the hands would be sharp and the sax blurred

Hi Larry
The "special effects" give a nice idea of the action. Interesting.
Cheers,
Francisco
