Photographer's Note
On the first day of our TE meeting at Mono Lake, I was admiring some wild iris at the little beaver pond on the way to Lundy Falls. John (jwmunro) said, "Wait until you see the iris on the road to Bodie."
I waited, thank you very much John. This early in the year, this meadow was quite moist with multiple little channels running through the area. The snow above the meadow had melted off and the channels were drying so this lovely display would soon be gone. Even though I got down in the grass, it doesn't come close to Peter's stunning Iris shot. But that's part of the fun of TE meetings, you get to see how others frame and capture similar views.

Hi Pat,
Another wonderful image from the eastern Sierra's with the wonderful Iris patch dominating this almost treeless landscape with clear views to the dramatic snow covered peaks seen against the lovely blue sky. I must say hats off to you, Peter and Doug for bringing us such great photos from a little known part of California.
Regards, Tom

Very nice shot. I like the compositition with the wildflowers backed up by the rolling hills backed up by the high mountains. Could be a painting.

Hi Patricia,
The great plains are not easy to shot, because they can seem a little bored. This is fantastic: the light and the perfect sharpen are really good, and the depth you has reached here is so good that we can see many details. The flowers at the foreground are a good touch of different color, and the mountains in the background close the shot very well. Is a great shot, really! Thanks.
Regards,
Angel.

Hi Pat,
Such a beautiful touch of colours in this otherwise rough landscape.
The depth of field is impressive, all the way to the mountains in the background.
It is interesting to note there's no sunshine in the foregorund, while the sky further away is actually cloudless.

Hallo Pat!
For my taste this is one of the best landscape photos I ever saw! It's beautiful, interesting and impressive - and technically perfect - in the same time. You show us a breathtaking landscape here. I like this one very much. Great!
Greetings from Germany - and have a nice weekend!

Hello Patricia,
I remeber the road, but in Sep there are not much flowers left...in fact they are all gone :-(
But seeing it in June it looks very lovely, also the different layers of green on the slopes and some parts of snow on the Sierra's...wonderful.
So, now i am curious what you show me from Bodie it self ;-)
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Hello Pat! Beautiful shot, I'm glad you took the time to stop and shoot the scenery on the way into Bodie. I had only been to Bodie during the summer months when everything is dried out and looking like true desert, so I was blown away by the display of wild Iris you captured so nicely here. The colors, details, and sharpness are well-seen!

Pat, those Iris caught my attention too, but I didn't want to stop John. It had been a long day and everyone was quite tired with tender right index fingers of so many pictures taken during this long day. I was very much inspired to get those and the sheep herd too, but ... Well, I'm happy that you got it. I saw you in the meadow while we were passing by. A simple composition of an impressive landscape. I love the snow capped mountains in the backdrop giving the right impression of Spring.

The Sierras seem like a perfect place to spend time enjoying nature. I love fields and hills like the ones seen here. The view towards the mountains is far and the good clarity of the picture allow for nice colours and details. Lovely place Pat :-)

Hi Pat
What an awesome landscape..it has a sense & the real feel of vastness, where as a viewer I want to get lost. Layers again, I love them here with the irises in the FG attracting immediate attention as are the snow capped peaks in the distant BG, separated by the barren greenish slope. A great place to get lost in wilderness in the lap of nature
Best Regards

Hello Pat. one sees the beauty of the picture only if one opened the Thumbnail. The foreground with the sword lilies, the gentle hills and the blue mountains in the background result in a wonderful Pottpourie. Your picture is a paradies for eye and soul. Very beautifully. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Pat -
You are welcome as your iris field image is much better than mine. I seemed to concentrate on the flowers themselves rather than the field and the background. Also, when Joanne and I were at this spot we did not have good lighting conditions for the landscape version. This is a well crafted and executed image as the Sierra backdrop really adds great depth and interest to the image. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hola Pat,

Hi Pat,
Your TE meeting was obviously at the perfect time for this location. The beautiful Iris flowers are beautiful against the lovely hills and the majestic mountains. Early June is my favorite time of year and I love the mild days and cool, but pleasant evenings during this time. Gorgeous scenery!

Hi, Pat!
Brilliant colors, huge depth of field, wonderful presentation! Haven't been up in here since 1997, but gimme less than three months and I will once again. I'm telling you, I just can't wait... Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie!
Have a great day, I'll see ya soon.
