Photographer's Note
The rising sun sets fire to the clouds above some of the hoodoos in Blue Canyon. The ones closest to my camera could almost be mushrooms if they weren't over 6 feet tall and made of sandstone.
The Canyon is located in the Hopi Reservation and their regulations require non-tribal members use a Hopi guide when going to the area.

Cropped and brightened, sky exposure increased with decreased highlights, foreground subjected to auto contrast correction.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your advice in regard to sunset photos. I actually carry with me a ND grad filter all the time and somehow I forgot about it. I didn't have a chance to use it for a while.
This is a spectacular sight. The rock formations themselves are extraordinary and the sky features a fantastic spectacle by warmly lit clouds.
Excellent work,
M
