The Lost Dutchman Marathon starts at 7am in Gold Canyon, Arizona. But you must first drive to Apache Junction, Arizona to park your car around 5am. Then a shuttle bus takes you along a windy and bumpy dirt road to the start of the marathon which is a half mile south of the Peralta Trailhead on Peralta Road. The bus is nice and warm but when you exit the bus it is about 40F outside and pitch black. The organizers provide dozens of camp fires and hot coffee to keep you warm while you are waiting for the start of the race.

This is a very well organized event in a very scenic desert area.
