Photographer's Note

The South is not a good destination for those who like spending a considerable part of their holiday inside art museums, but that doesn't mean there aren't some fine museums around. Sadly most of them were undergoing renovations or partly closed when we visited them.

THE HIGH MUSEUM OF ART in Atlanta (colloquially the High) is a leading art museum in the Southeastern United States.

This is the view of the piazza in front of the High. The bright and colourful shapes are part of a temporary exhibit by Yuri Suzuki called SONIC PLAYGROUND. You can have fun with sounds there.

One of their best recordings, Benny, Feats Don't Fail Me Now. Old Folks' Boogie on that one? I'll be doing it soon. No, I think it was Tripe Face Boogie; also appropriate. For the photo, you've made an interesting almost-symmetrical scene of the box-like architectural shapes and contrasting curvy ones of the sculptures and tree. Not many people around, even in mid-summer.

Ze hebben hier een flinke witte kolos neergezet als museum, maar het gaat natuurlijk ook om wat er binnen te zien is. En ervoor, de felgekleurde beelden spatten van het scherm. Fijne jaarwisseling!

Dag Benny,
Kunstobjecten die ook nog geluid geven kunnen extra aantrekkelijk zijn. Vaak ook voor kinderen, hoewel de belangstelling hier in Atlanta schijnt tegen te vallen.
Na het lezen van je info stellen we een bezoek aan het zuiden der USA nog maar even verder uit.

I like that you're showing us totally new and different subjects from Atlanta...well, not that we get a lot of Atlanta shots on TE, but you know what I mean. Leave it to an Art Museum to show off its building in a unique way, and this is another example of that. I like it, funky, cool, but not everyone's taste. cheers

Hello Benny,

The yellow plastic hybrid between a gramophone speaker and a flower in the fg contrasts well with the blue sky. Nice repetition too of the other sculptures at the back in different colors. Tfs!
