Photographer's Note
When trying to explain why I use DSLRs instead of phones, point and shoots, and other devises. I try to explain the control that one has with these cameras. Here I am wide open at 2.8 on my 300mmL. I explain the ability to use such a narrow focal plane to my advantage. I am one of those people who need to touch and feel. works better than book work for me. This lone snake studied me as I studied him. Just a great example of a the power that one holds in their hands with DSLRs.

Hi Jimmy,
well managed your photo with a perfect sharpness for the head of this snake, impressive result, tfs.

Hello Jimmy,
This a minimal picture of the snake, only the head.
Pleasant picture to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hi Jimmy
you have a 2.8 300 mm lens, that sounds VERY expensive. Very top of the line quality lens...good for you :) I've got my eye on the 70-200 2.8 Pentax, but its $2300, so i'll have to save up. cool shot my friend, we could see 1000 photos here and never see one quite like this. The more I view it the more I like and appreciate it. and yes, I'll take a DSLR anyday over a cell phone. cheers

Hi Jimmy,
There are 3 ways we learn. Visual, Listening and Kinesthetic, ie doing. Riding a bike or driving a car for the first time, I would prefer the real thing rather than reading a manual. I am a visual learner but also keen on a 'hands on' approach when it comes to operating a camera or other equipment. I once asked someone how to I do a time exposure. They replied just set it on auto. Problem was, my SLR has FIVE settings with auto, that's why I prefer to be shown using a real camera and not a diagram off internet, or listening. Perfect use of a shallow dof here with the hopefully non venomous snake raising its' head to see ahead. Tfs!

Hello Jimmy
A convincing proof of the superiority of a good photo camera above the quick convenience of a smartphone.
The convenience of an easy, quick taken photo of, I must admit, often good quality deprives the possibility of playing with the depth of field and the contrast in the exposure.
Splendid picture.
Have a good weekend, groet Rob

probably I will never got such image because my camera isn't able to get this and when I saw snakes I was far of them or I had no camera with me or I was afraid enough to keep distance.haha.
amazing result, almost minimalist image. there is only a small area in focus and the head of the animal in evidence. WOW!
congratulations.
take care
