Photographer's Note

This photo was taken at Battery Park yesterday. For me, the park is a place of contradictions - the NY bay (with the statue of liberty and the islands) with all its splendor and happiness on one hand, and monuments to fallen soldiers on the other.
On one side of the park there is a monument made of several great walls full of names of fallen Navy soldiers, and on the other this monument for the Korean War. To me, there is something surreal about the way nature reflects in the pattern of the soldier, especially when the sun sets, and the inner side of the pattern is filled with orange-red shades.
