The splendor of Saks Fifth Avenue, a photo from New York, Northeast

The holiday season is in full swing, and yesterday I took a walk around the midtown area of Manhattan to take photos of the trees and decorations.

One thing that people look forward to seeing every year, are the window displays at different department stores around the city. Here is a wide view of the display at Saks Fifth Avenue, which sits directly across the street from Rockefeller Center.

This year, the six main windows have a theme of reconnecting with family and loved ones during the holiday season. Children from New York City made drawings of their holiday dreams, and artists and engineers at Saks Fifth Avenue brought them to life.

You can also see various lights on the faзade of the store, but since I took photos during the day, I wasn’t able to see the beautiful light show that takes place every day after dusk. The lights change colors, and, together with musical selections, they create a fabulous display.

Hello Brenda,
The colored displays at street level naturally catch my immediate attention, but I hope nobody forgets to watch the more discreet decorations covering the entire faзade. They are very elegant and created in good taste. That goes for the view in the WS too. Even though it's quite bright it is made with a certain degree of modesty, almost according to the idea of "less is more" (like my Christmas tree).
But isn't there a slight tilt to the right in the main photo) ;-)

Hi Brenda,big party, and at N.Y. no expense is spared, the opulence of the decorations is the symbol of your city during the Christmas celebrations. This is just one example, the windows are very original and deal with a metaphorical theme about family reunions after Covid, although I saw on TV today that some plays and concerts have been canceled. We see few people for a holiday, must are very nice when you can make a picture during late evening.
Than we would get wonderful light and colours.

Hello Brenda,
I think it's a really nice poster in the WS with the strawberries and the rainbow with the tall buildings in the background. Then I realized that the buildings are not on the poster but are the reflection of the surroundings.
Your main photo shows a beautiful street scene in festive times.
The lighting on the artificial trees and their branches must be beautiful at night, but you had the advantage of the many colours of the shop windows that provide a happy note on Fifth Avenue.

Hi Brenda
You did find some good Christmas scenes to take photos of.
Department stores in Sydney used to go in for similar displays at Christmas but sadly there are now only 2 full scale stores. We were always taken into town to see them when I was young (too long ago!). A good pair of photos.

Wonderful Christmss decorstions. Specially in this still difficult tome with Covid we all deserve someting to cheer up.
I am in Egypt now. In every hotels there are Christmas decorstioms. Sants with Sphinx is something surreal.

Hello Brenda, the windows are so colourful and yet are only a part of the facade of the famous department store. The swags of greenery make the perfect frame.

Hi Brenda,
The wide view shows how rich the decorations are and how extensive while the close up gives us a nice example of the store window.
I wonder whether the Christmas "under the rainbow" is the present day version of the " I am dreaming of a white Christmas" which may have become not politically correct anymore?
