Photographer's Note
Photo taken on the same day where this photo was taken on Mt Washington. The weather had turned cloudy with more snow coming in later on today. I was on my way down the mountain and found a spot to pull over. Slapped on my snow shoes and climbed and 3 meter high snow bank to get to this location.
This white topping caught my interest with the 10-22 wide angle helping bring the setting together. I always wanted to capture some interesting snow photos but have been unable to until I ventured up Mt Washington. With the mountain peak one mile above sea level and being perfectly located for 9 meters (30 feet) of snow annually this ski resort is the second busiest next to Mt Whistler where the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held. But I am glad that my parents live only 30 minutes from here.
If you would like to find more information on this resort you can find it here. I still find it hard to believe that the amount of snow up here is not nearly half way fallen yet. Now I have to go back and discover more snow fallen beauty. I just love it. I hope you enjoy the scenery as much as I do.
Winter Cheers!
In the workshop I posted a photo of two hikers trekking in the snow behind me. Its all about enjoying the beautiful winter outdoors!

Hello Paul,
this is ecstatic..lots and lots of vanilla topped natural ice cream..wonderfully composed and very nice colours and contrast here..!!! it looks like no human presence was there beyond the point you stood..as there are no foot prints..and that is making the shot all the more beautiful..!!

G’Day Paul,
I doubt I will ever tire of seeing these wonderfully unique and unusual ice 'sculptures'. It absolutely amazes me to think of all the survival techniques the plants coated in this ice would need to have adapted in order to live through the winter season. More than the ice, the sky is also brimming with attractive patters and delightful colour. Sharpness is exceptional, which really helps to promote the texture of the snow. Magnificent DOF, allowing for the inclusion of the electricity cables in the distance! A great job!
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Paul
I remember the place well…
I even took some photos of this place.
I was lucky…
My snow was white those days (;-)))
All the best, mate.
May the 2008 be as much exhausting and busy for you as the previous one.

Hello Paul,
This is a perfect picture. The xposure is right and the natural landscape with loads of snow is very Canadian. Your vertical format works very well to include the frosted little tree against the blue sky. Good image with fine details with no trace of human presence. Unspoiled beauty!

Hi Paul
Another excellent shot with that wide angle lens. Great exposure as we can see nice detail in the snow while still maintaining a good white colour. Nicely composed.

Great shot Paul! I actually prefer this one to the previous one you posted, because it is closer to the snow covered tree, and because it shows more of the blue sky. I like the snow covered trees, which at first glance can seem to be people standing there. Beautiful!

Thats a fantastic winter view, and exactly what we want to see at this time of year!
Composition is very good, the position of the foreground tree is perfect - making fine depth in the picture back to the distant low cloud. Fine natural colors and I like the texture of the fresh snow.

I REALLY like this one Paul!
Excellent tonal levels and the conrast is just right. The only small suggestion Paul would be to maybe clone out the power lines in the distance which are the only sign of civilisation in the scene.
Oh... I'm soooo jealous!

Another great winter snowscape, Paul. Technically perfect as usual and very well composed. I like your WS post too - even that would have been good enough for a main post - although that one doesn't have the lovely blues in the sky that you have captured here. Cheers . . . David

Hi Paul, Such choice ,your snowy landscapes are such a feast for the eyes,we in Europe can only dream of such snowfalls.I particularly like this image, the central snow cluster reminds me of the white wigs high court judges wear in the UK, left hanging on a coat stand.Like the inclusion of the line telegraph poles helps to give some idea of scale. Thanks Tom.
