Photographer's Note
This picture was taken on McGill street in Montreal an is of the beautiful and popular sculpture of Raymond Masson.
The illuminated crowd was the theme choosen "A crowd has gathered, facing a light, an illumination brought about by a fire, an event, an ideology - or an ideal. The strong light casts shadows, and as the light moves toward the back and diminishes, the mood degenerates; rowdiness, disorder and violence occur, showing the fragile nature of man. Illumination, hope, involvement, hilarity, irritation, fear, illness, violence, murder and death - the flow of man's emotion through space."

Excellent clarity in this one, Pierre. I feel as if I could reach out and touch them.
My favourite figure is the boy being comforted by his mother, although they all have great expressions.
The colours contrast perfectly.

Hi Pierre,
This is quite a moving exhibit. The lighting is superb, as is the clarity and detail. Each of the individual sculpted figures seems to have a distinct personality and role to play in the scene, well documented by your note. The black background adds to the mood. This scene stirs the emotions in a rather indefinable but slightly disturbing way. Very fine work...Demain.

Salut Pierre
Bon dimanche

I remember this remarkable statue from when I lived in Montreal (I went to McGill many years ago). I like the collection of faces and characters, and the way things are exaggerated without becoming cartoonish. Thanks for the memories by showing this!

Salut Pierre,

Hi Pierre
Very excellent capture of that fine artwork - The mix of light and reflections gives life to the crowd of people - wonder if you changed the background to black - anyway a good job
Thanks for sharing.

Bonjour Pierre
