Photographer's Note
Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican denomination) was completed in 1859 but serious engineering flaws occured when the ground could not support the weight of the stone spire. Work was undertaken in 1939 to replace the original structure with an aluminium spire. Then in the 1980's, part of the land was sold for development and the Place de la Cathedrale was built. This consists of office towers (on which the spire is reflected in this photo) and an underground shopping mall, directly under the church and the new office towers. In order to do this, the church was suspended in mid air through the use of concrete columns and beams during the excavation of the underground mall. I will post more views of this interesting combination of old church and new office towers.

Hi Richard,
I know this place well and it is very interesting architecturally as your good note conveys. Your pic is a bit busy: its hard to know and find the focal point, and indeed there doesn't seem to be one. Having 2 spires amutated below their tops is a bit disconcerting.

Richard,
Lybil
