Photographer's Note

To soften the harsh winter wind lashing my shutters this morning I turn to thoughts of lazy summer days. Most corn in the Fraser Valley is grown as fodder for farm animals and stored over winter in vertical structures known as silos.

Nice shot of corn farming. The composition is good, specially the hillside and back is amazing. The fog over there is giving good results.
The colors and saturation are good.

ce champs nous inonde de couleurs chaudes , pas difficile , cette photo sent parfaitement l'йtй.
On passe de l'hiver а l'йtй avec les photos de cette rйgion du Canada que vous кtes nombreux а poster.
Elle est superbe.
Le cadrage est parfait et ce joli ciel nous fait oublier la grisaille qui nous entoure pour l'instant.

Hi John, I enjoy the nicely composed picture. The tree next to the old barn well decorated the beautiful view of the mountain in the distance and the cornfield in the foreground. Nice contrast and depth. Well done.

Very nice view at summer corn. Beautiful warm colours. I like eat fresh corn, especially when I`m at the end of all day hike. If I meet corn on my way, one of them must be mine... I know I shouldn`t but I can`t resist ;).

This Fraser Valley seems like an idyllic place. Must pay it a visit one day. I like the golden tops of the corn which add a great layer of colour to the photograph. The barn is well placed in the composition and the exposure and focus are spot on. A great summer shot.

Ahhh... the golden tones of summer! This has a very pleasing glow, from the corn and also the light. That light is enhanced by the slight softness in the details, which gives this a sort of painterly look. Great work!

A stunning photo with amazing colors...it makes me long for the summer so much! Hmmm...corn, nothing is better than a good corn on the cob in the summer. Although these corns are for the animals. I love the soft look of this photo which does show lots of detail and really shows the summer feeling. Well done, John...great composition!

Hi John. Yet another impeccable shot from you. The barn and tree are both perfectly placed. But those golds or yellows don't look quite right to me. They don't seem bright enough. Still a fine shot John!

I believe those vertical structures can give pretty nice shots...
A perfect composition of this corn field, with the sight of the silo and the mountains in the background, perfectly balanced in colours and lighting. I like your framing with the sight of the begining of the corn field - the repetition of them give a very nice pattern for the foreground composition. Those soft clouds enhance the view on this image. Again, very well done!

What I like in this view is the pleasant warm feeling, be it on the corns or on the barn walls. Of course I am not insensible to the charm of the background mountains ;-)

The old barn is well in teh picture in situation over the corn field (just in an aspect it is dedicated to catle food).
Colors are nice to see at this time of the year, good light too.

There's a great depth and warmth to this picture. I really like the composition with the big expanse of golden corn, the interesting old barns and the mountains, slightly misty, in the distance.

Well John I see you have been shooting on my grass when you took this one. I just finished posting a photo from Whatcom Rd area today. Got you back! Very nicely done John! I love the colors and the corn field in the foreground. You cannot mistake this barn from any other. The missing boards on the front leave quite a signature. I like your angle of viewpoint by shooting across the cornfield. My posting was taken in winter. Good work John!

But as nice as it is- I know it would be a nightmare for me. My eyes would be all puffed up, itchy and watery, my nose would be running non-stop, and I'd be sneezing as if I had just inhaled a packet of pepper- yes, I'm an allergy sufferer! hahaha...

Your decision to place the barn off centre in the shot really does make for a great composition, and the wall-like effect of the corn compliments the whole image.

Between you and Paul, this barn is becoming wuite well known isn't it. I think it's been photographed from every angle, and every time of the year! hahaha.... but it is photogenic.

Hi John - great shot, I like the distinct areas of colour (gold, green & blue) and the barn & tree as a focal point in the image. There's a slight haze over the hills, fitting for a summer image.

Pleasent, rural scenery in fantastic light.
I like the way You composed this one, especially use of forground and distant view on the mountains. Barn and houses are very well off-centered. Clarity and tones are very warm and it really makes the whole vista lazy :)
