Photographer's Note
Wishing all trek members on this site a Happy New Year in 2008. Being able to capture some winter snow has been long overdue for me and its a pleasure to share some of these images from Mt Washington. This snow shape was right along side the trail. An excellent study in light and shape. I felt like I could almost blow it to pieces and was afraid to touch it. Enjoy and all the best!

Hello Paul,
Incredible, I have never seen anything quite like it. That is what is so delightful about TE, you are able to witness things that you have not yet seen and perhaps never will see. The texture and lighting here is very well presented, the sharpness of the icy FG is perfect. The side-lighting is very prominent, yet subtle and not overpowering in anyway. I like the contrasting shadow and light. Fantastic use of shape. Good to see some blue sky peeping through the background. Magnificent!

Happy New Year to you too Paul. It was good to hear fom you.
What a strange but amazing image this is. There is extreme contrast but you handled that well and captured excellent texture in the snow. It's almost abstract. Well done

Excellent light control Paul. You have lots of detail in the snow. Nicely composed. You make good use of the 10-22mm lens.

Hey Paul,
it's me dropping by from time to time;)
I have to say that I am sort of jealous of your abilities to shoot difficult lighting situations. Besides the fact that the scenery here is awesome the light makes the shot pretty hard. The bright snow contrasting with the dark shadow areas and you chose exactly the right exposure. Especially the area below the center of the "creature" in the foregroung is awesome where you can see the light shining through the snow! Really nice image! Great to look at...
All the best for '08!

Hi Paul,
Wonderful shot of this tree just covered in snow. I love the curves of it and the way it seems to be sheltered by the surrounding trees. Great lighting, wonderful colors and beautiful details! Great work, Paul!
Greetings,
Ann
PS: Happy New Year to you and your family...may it be a year full of happiness, luck and good health!

Hello Paul,
Best wishes for 2008, too. Your latest beautiful snow scenes are keeping the flame burning for me to return to Western Canada, hopefully around late Fall '08: I've not tried snow-shoeing, but it sounds like a great way to get to some peaceful locations.
Regards,
Jeff
