Photographer's Note

The Sun Life building was completed in 1931 after 3 stages of construction, the first one starting as early as 1913. Built exclusively for the Sun Life Insurance Co, it measures 122 meters (400 feet) high and has 24 storeys. During World War II, the basement vaults were the secret hiding place of the Crown Jewels of England and the gold bullion of the Bank of England. Location: On Metcalfe st corner of Ren Lvesque west.

Construit uniquement pour la compagnie d'assurance Sun Life, ce btiment mesure 122 mtres (400 pieds) de haut et compte 24 tages. Durant la deuxime guerre mondiale, les joyaux de la couronne britannique ainsi que les rserves d'or de la banque d'Angleterre y furent cachs dans les votes du sous-sol.
