Photographer's Note

A view looking north towards the snowcapped peaks of the Pontic Mountains (part of the North Anatolian Mountains) from the Erzurum Citadel. Erzurum is 1,950 m (6,398 ft) above sea level. Behind me is Palandцken Mountain which is 3,271 m (10,732 ft) high. The Erzurum plateau lies between the two.

Hello Chris,
Beautiful valley where the town built on a part of it, and great sight of the snowy mountains ridge far beyond.
Nicely included the naked tree over the "sky space" on the upper part.
Colors are vivid and visibility was superoir.

Chris, nice landscape photo captured from an elevated point, the citadel. This city of Erzurum is suggested in the bg as well as the snow capped mountains behind the tree well placed in the fg. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Chris,
The tree provided you with a good foreground for this attractive view of Erzurum. I was here several times in the early 1970's, so I recognize the environments and the general atmosphere. You handled the harsh light well and the colours are very fresh and bright.

Hello Chris,
A well composed picture taken on a good height overlooking the town and the green plain behind it.
The snow capped mountain range under the integral blue sky certainly adds value to this photo.
The tree and its winter branches make a pretty foreground.

Hello Chris,

I love photographs which contain a very strong focal image in the f/g and your tree is exactly that. It is almost sensuous in the way that it curves, pointing us towards the valley and on towards the snow-capped mountains.
The f/g offers excellent, textural details, all under a strong light.

this is an amazing viewpoint. The panoramic scene is very impressive with the snow covered mountains on the horizon.
The tree makes a wonderful foreground framing the view.
