Erzurum is 1,757 metres above sea level, and the bg mountains such as Palandoken on the right are 3,271 m high. At left is the twin minaret madrassa (Зifte Minareli Medrese) under scaffolding. It was built by the Seljuk Turks. More information here:

A gorgeous view on a crisp and bright day. The smooth shapes of the snowy mountains make a beautiful backdrop underneath the blue sky. The city stands out well with a nice mix of older and more modern architecture.

very clear view you show us, its super clear, the air must be so clean and clear up at this height. Awesome to see the snow capped mountains in the bg with the blue sky hovering right above it. Fine fine post with the local architecture cheers

Hello Chris,
This is a view I remember well. I was in Erzurum (you dropped one letter in the title) several times but only in summer, so there wasn't much snow on the mountains, if any. The tree to the left balances the minaret on the right side well, and they both frame the view of the city perfectly. I like the rather intense light and fine contrasts.

Chris, that city located in east Anatolia is built in a valley surrounded by majestic snow capped mountains. The madrassa minaret sticks out from the rest of the town. Good pov, perfect sharpness.

Hi Chris,
I think I have seen this amazing view as an illustration in a guidebook to Turkey.
The snow covered mountains work so impressive here. I like the architecture as well even though it is partially covered with the construction.
Very good exposition of the snow with all details preserved. The contrast with the well polarized sky is so eye pleasing.
