Photographer's Note
Today's photo is completely documentary. It is a panoramic view from the front of the remains of the Church of Mary in Ephesus, Selçuk, Turkey. It is stitched together from four photos I took during our 2011 trip. A photo of the panel in front of the church, from which the following information has been harvested, is in the workshop.
The 145 X 30 m large, three-aisled bishop's church of the city was erected in the southern stoa of the Olympieion Quarter. The basilica became renowned as the site of the 3rd Ecumenical Council in A. D. 431. The church was rebuilt numerous times in the late Byzantine period. The Seat of the Diocese of Ephesus was transferred to St. John's Basilica, by the latest in the 7th century, but as a cemetery church the Church of Mary continued to be used well into the Middle Ages.

Hi Murat,
You're capturing well this ruin by a good composition, a good panoramic view and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the building of the Council Church and its cemetery. Although I am unacquainted with history, that the former site of Christianity is located on this background is likely to have relation in the Byzantine Empire having advanced to this area in the byzantine time. It's impressive in the surrounding nature with greenery and mountain.
Kind regards,
mikio

Hello Murat,
a very rewarding and interesting panoramic frame that offers us a thorough description of the site, its textures and its surroundings. Your stitching is wonderful and only a little detail in the bottom right corner has escaped, perhaps, your attention. A very inviting view due to its depth, clarity and interest. The light is very strong but you've managed it superbly and obtained wonderful contrasting colours. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Hi Murat,
Thank you for this panoramic photo of St Mary's church at Ephesus ! I believe it's the only one on TE. And I also believe it's the region where you come from isn't it ?
Lovely contrast between the color of the old stones, the greenery and the blue sky. I wonder now : Is it natural or is it painted ?
Anyway, the buddleja nicely recalls the blue color of the sky.
Thanks for sharing.
Best regards.
Marie-Louise.
PS. I see your WS is larger than the 800 pix max announced while posting a WS. However, on the "new" version, you can only see half the picture. On beta too, but you can scroll the picture leftwards in order to see it all, but not all at the same time :-(

Hi Murat
Congrats on your effort it's an excellent panorama and good stitching works - I have yet to try, The figs add scale to a huge view and depth from this strategic pov and I can appreciate the excellent details with the remains of the ancient church dominates. Brilliant blue and green add so much live to the shot coupled by good balance exposure. A wonderful historic shot that you have excelled yourself with this, Congrats
Best regards

Howdy Murat,
It is sad the original rock Church from centuries ago is not still standing. Though your view hints at its previously glory, even while in ruins.
Nice job,
Cheers,
Ray
