Salam Haya,
I know that potato chips... 'french frites' are claimed as 'national' dish in a lot of countries... they have exceeded their 'creator' ;-)!
Anyway, potatoes are of Latin American origin (somewhere in the peruvian Andes), the Spanish took them from here to Europe, where nobody knew very much what to do with them... until a French chef (I think his name was Parmentier) created some recipes with them... There is some funny story about how fried 'souffle' potatoes were 'invented', too... In my country (Argentina) we call them 'papas fritas' and they became somekind of always present side-dish. You see, they became universal, like pizza! (Mmmm... could they become heritage of mankind??? :-) !!!!).
I like your photo, it made me hungry (we are approching noon where I am now) and I agree with Frashid's recommendation of a Polarizer filter (sometimes, something very simple like a piece of 'scotch' tape in front of the flash may help too)

Bonjour Haya,
your photo is not sharp because of the exposure time. You needed a flash or a tripod.
If you ever come in province of Quebec, eastern Canada, we let cheddar cheese melt under the sauce of your favorite meal. We call it "poutine" and it's a classic here. You cannot miss that.

Le cadrage est bon mais je trouve que cela manque un peu de luminosité. c'est un peu terne.
