Photo of an oil on canvas by a local post-impressionist painter in Qatar, it depicts the mixed culture and influence within the Middle East post the Arab spring....

Now why would i write two different notes? ill tell you in a while, but first, i would appreciate your views on which note you see fit!

The truth is that its the first note, but wouldn't you agree with me that the poor old painter, who painted this wall a decade ago; is quite a genius? i see beautiful strikes of mixed colored brush, painted by an artistic unstable young painter describing his emotions... i see genuis!

Salam Ahmad,

The two image create an abstract diptych and are quite complementary, as are your notes. I hope you don't think it is a cop out, but it is really quite difficult for me to pick out as the better of the two. I've gone back and forth. I actually like the work on the left better, since it is reminiscent of the spirals in Leonardo's depiction of a storm over landscape . The one on the right appears to have a pair of embedded eyes and quite haunting.

By the way, I believe you live in Saudi Arabia. But if you are in Qatar, or periodically visit the country, would you click on the website, Bulent Atalay, created by my publisher (National Geographic). There is a flag counter on the lower right side. Each new country from which the website is accessed raises a flag. I believe, there are 40 flags from Saudi, but none from Qatar.
