Listen to my Song !, a photo from Khorasan Razavi, East

Photographer's Note

When we saw him,he said with a strange but kind smile:
-hey! Listen to my song!
Then he started to playing with his instrument(which we call it " Taar") & singing , an old traditional song,
I asked him for this shot,during singing with his head's movement said OK!
We gave him a little gift & for a few moment sat on the earth in front of him & listened to his song.
He was really a kind & lovely man.

In East-north of Iran,more than 1000 Km distance to Tehran,In "Mashhad" city (capital of "Khorasan" province)

There is nostalgy in this image.
The face of the man is so expressive, and I particularly like the two characters in the background, they give another dimension to the photo.
The post-processing is very well adapted to this photo.

excellent portrait. I love the sepia colours, its give great athmosphere. The expression of the man is great.
The back ground is maybe a little bit distracting but that can hardly be avoided in a shot like this.

He really appears to be a very nice guy and a dedicated musician, Mohammad. Very nice posing, and I like the strong diagonal made by the instrument without conceiling his face in any way. The photo looks great in sepia, well done. A pity it wasn't taken in June, it would be a wonderful entry for the scavenger hunt.

Great shot. Very good composition. The DOF is good. The expression you captured is wonderful. And just the overall lively and active feel of him playing is all in this. I can hear the music. Very good lighting and a good sharpness. It just all captures him so well and how much he is into his music. The sepia works nicely here, too. I think it helps bring out the very good lighting nicely. Excellent, Mohammad!

Very nice capture! I like very much how you've framed the musician with the tip of his instrument in the top right of the photo.

Although it's ok this way you could have considered using the flash in this situation. It would highlight the man a little contradicting the position of the sun.

It is very interesting to see that a kind of Horasan (in Turkish) Mystic Men still exists in Iran. In the history, those nomadic dervishes came to Anatolia and effected too much our culture.

It is a good photo and very intersting and important for me.

Very nice composition on this photo, Mohammad.
Sepia tone gave an "old time atmosphere" as this character are vanishing and it's always more difficult to spot in the cities. Well done!

Salam Mohammad. Top shot. Very effective PoV and a timeless sepia treatment.i like his expression- he is far away, floating with the emotion of his music. One day I must visit Khorasan- there is a theory that the Croats(Hrvati or Horahvati)came from there.Regards. Klaudio.
