Photographer's Note

South view of"Tachara Palace".,one of the palaces of Perspolis.
Perspolis :the most gloriuos , magnificent complex in its era.
was build from 512 B.C. to 338 B.C.,on a flat hill on the west side of a mountain in (today)Fars.Surface: 475 x 317 m.
the kings of Achaemenids(="hakhamanishi"s in Farsi) brought architects, craftsmen, statue-makers,etc. from all over the ancient world to b build it, you know, for Iran was such a great country that time, ruling over so many nations, that it was necessary to unite their arts : from Egypt, Elam, Babylon, Greece, Araconia, Sard,... .
every year, the king celebrated the new year there.(it's an ancient iranian custim we still have:celebrating the first day of the new year which is first of spring too, which is called "Norouz"=new day )
to build this complex from stone (by making
engravings, stone columns & stairways ) wsn't easy for sure, that's why after 2500 years these figures ( I mean those who are not in world's museums) still talk to you.
PS :for another view of "perspolis soldier", see the photo of Roshangar named"she &soldiers"< /a>
