Photographer's Note
Another picture with my old camera out the series Cornwall.
This photo you see is taken in Newquay, a very busy and fine resort in Cornwall. It's a typical English resort with only a few people from other countries.
During our stay over there we saw this beautiful bay and we couldn't resist to take some photos of it. We took place at the edge of the rugged beachhead and enjoyed the lovely view of the afforest rock - the "Island" they called it over there . Above your head you heard the screaming sea-gulls whilst a fresh sea-breeze stroked your hair. The rock on which a little house is built - now a private house but a few years back there was a small tearoom - is connected with
the mainland by a small smooth rocking suspension bridge. The bay itself is one of the seven beaches of the town, named "Towan Beach".
When the weather is fine and sunny the whole environ is a real paradise for the many visitors.
This picture I have cropped an the left side to a better composition.
The colours are really.
I hope you like it.

With the old camera..... therefore the picture is a little bright. The composition however, is very nice, a good view on the rock and Newquay and I like the fence and green in the foreground. So again, nice picture, John !

Oke John critisch,
Goed werk John

A spectacular place and well catched. However I would have cropped a little more on the left, leaving out the fence but kept the green on the rock to keep the depth in the picture. Well Done

Exciting details in here John. Great landscape to see. But a bad thing that the photo is very overexposed (at my screen) and maybe also too sharpened..

Il semble qu'il y ai un problème avec les couleurs..peut-être une trop grande surexposition?
L'endroit est fantastique et mérite cette belle photo!

A slight over exposed and therefore not so saturated as your other pictures where the colors are strong and vibrant. Certain countries have very strong sunlight or the sky is not so helpful which you have to be aware of John. I usually carry ND filter and Polarizer to help me get the colors.

Goed gedaan alleen lichtjes overbelicht achteraan.

Colors are a bit washed-out on top right but it might be the age fo the picture that makes it such. A good composition though.

Hi John - the shooting perspective and the motive are well chosen, but I think two things didn't come out ideal in this photo: (a) it looks too bright overall, with the whites of the buildings in the back appearing overexposed. (b) I think there should be a little more sky, and on the opposite side a bit of the foreground could be taken away.

Wow nice point of view John! This bridge provides us a scale of the height of these cliffs. Your composition is interesting with a lot of unusual element especially this little high island containing this resort.
Well done!

Hi John,
I have never been to Cornwall. Yet. I live in England for 8 years already but this is the region which is at the opposite end of the country and requires about 8-9 driving from where I live.
And it is not cheap so in fact it is cheaper to go to Spain or Italy.
Very photogenic spot, which I have to remember for the time if I finally decide to go there someday.
You had a nice weather and respective colors.
I see it was before you switched to Canon 5D yet.
Nice reportage from your trip,
M

john
curious as this big rock was used as the base for a house, for sure a special house with a great view and its own bridge; TFS.
take care
