Photographer's Note
Going back to my theme The Belgrave Baheno.
Some of these ladies are very old, it is very difficult to speak to them due to their hearing... therefore, when they sing their prayers, there are several variations going on :)
taken at ISO 1600 - I wanted to see the results of the grains...

Hi Kaj,
excellent POV... it creates an intimate atmosphere that fits well with the scene.
Good result with the ISO 1600 for me : )

Hi Kajal,
A wonderfull composition, great colours and a perfect angle for the shot. The lighting is well balanced and the iso 1600 doesn´t
do any harm at all.
Regards,Alberto.

Very strong pov Kajal. This foreground old woman really imposes her presence as the dominant character in the picture. Seems she is really controlling the whole scene, a guarantee that the others take their lesson wisely. Love the intimate colors and the bright light that comes from that window on top. Very symbolic. A great photo!

Hi Kaj,
I wonder who she is! She seems like the Queen of the place. Reminds me of Kill Bill volume:1 , Bill with his hand on the katana without revelaing his face...
Well, excellent PoV all the way plus interesting expressions from the background.
Nice geometric compo with repetition of rectangles. Powerful pic. Also enjoy the ISO1600 grain.
Cheers,

You are fantastic at these unique points of view Kaj. You must be quite a sight. The framing within the chair is superb..I like the high ISO effect as well. Really good stuff.

Hi Kajal,
Very original and nice POV. I like the armchair used as a frame to put the two ladies on focus. The grain works, but I guess it would be better without it.
Best Regards,
Flavia

Hi Kaj. Nice shot here; I am kind of mixed feelings about this one. At first, I thought the chair imposed too much into the frame, but the more I look at it, the more I think you have done a really clever job in your framing. I think mostly what I wish is that the right third of the image was as good as the left 2/3s. Someone, it seems a little messier to me, but the more I look at the left side, the more I really like. Intersting shot.

Hello Kajal,
The chair in the left really made the frame very complex, still really well managed. The vignetting too is perfectly fit here. Even the light from the top is not distracting, well done.

Hey Kaj,
lately your POVs and crops have been getting more and more adventurous, and this one is stepping it up even further! I mean loo at how you divide the two groups. With a chair! The two groups are naturally divided, different conversations, and thats clear from their body language, yet you emphasize that by shooting thoriugh this chair frame. Very very bold work. The best thing though is that arm. Love the details of the skin and that jewelry. Striking picture.

hello Kajal,
I love the clever POV of this picture and its graininess. I always like to take a look at your baheno shots. They are full of life and interesting women.
well done

I like this one for its idea of shooting through the arms of the chair. The house looks very indian. The activities going on are are well captured. The framing is going well with the scene
Good work TFS

Actually, it looks marvellous for 1600. This is a very nice composition indeed. I can almost picture you on your hands and knees, the ladies thinking, She's a little bit crazy, but nice company :)

Ah!!!! What a composition! Fantastic shot, Kaj, the ladies engaging in reading just as clear as the front, cropped woman in the wooden armchair. Powerful composition to see the women even inside the arm of the chair on which another old, lovely arm rests. Fantastic, truly beautiful!

joining in late on this one kaj.. well deserved praises here for sure, very much to my taste.. a clever and bold compo, yet surprisingly well balanced (weren't you lucky with those windows...)pleasing colours and nice details (good choice of f/9.0) even at iso 1600.. i even like the black frame :-)... top notch... another worthy piece in your series..
p.s. just to nitpick perhaps (i had to look hard though, and you know i mean well :-)...).. to even better isolate/accentuate that hand, i'd maybe clone that rod or bar that seems to be shooting out of her knuckles towards the wall... anyways, no big deal, perhaps just still some spiderman imagery from last night's movie...

Hi Kajal,
The way your focusing transformed the inner frame of that lain hand into a piece of furniture, if you don't mind the image, is dumbfounding.
The feeling conveyed is meditative, and worth medidating indeed. One of the gentlest click I've witnessed yet. I'll tip-toe out now,
Take care, hush! F'

I've had a break from TE for a few days, and come back to find some great Baheno shots. This one in particular, with the very clever and effective framing device of the humble chair and the humble arm. This is really well cropped and the focus goes unerringly to the book reader while there is plenty of other stuff of interest to look at, like the bracelet or the texture and pattern of the near cloth. The colours are wonderful in the available light. Doesn't look all that grainy to me!

Andrew

Mmm, I didn't notie this one last time I looked at your gallery, but then I've been abit rushed recently. Anyway, this is a really fantastic compo from this place, again, making inventive use of hands.

That's so beautifully composed Kaj, the left side deserves to be a standalone by itself.
Who's Her Highness sitting on that chair? should we be entitled to ask.
Unfortunately I've read Mark's comments and now the rod bugs my reading like an eye-worm. No nitpicks except that and, perhaps, a little more brightness applied with the history brush, screen blend mode, on the foreground arm (just to make the skin texture pop out).
Oh yes, and forgot to praise about the lovely muted tones palette.
PS : Are you more expert at mooncakes and lanterns now?

Awesome shot, masterly - there are rennaissance paintings close to this (or is it the other way around ;o) I have little original to add to the pile of comments only to say that this vindicates your decision to stick to those ladies and not "move on " to something else too quickly.
Brilliant,

Hi Kajal,
I just bumped into this photo. The compo is absolutely wicked! And there is a good dose of atmosphere in there too. I think that it's abit touhing to see these old ladies gathered to sing in the sort of gtmnasium with a ho-so typically english ugly carpet ;-)
Your gallery is a excellent and very coherent which is very rare on this website!
Well done!
