Photographer's Note

This was taken from the platform of Portsmouth Harbour railway station. It's a fantastic building and viewed through the gap it gave it an other worldly appearance. I liked the contrast between the old roof edge and the hyper-modern building.

The Spinaker Tower was built with Millennium funds and is part of the re-development of the old dockyards in Portsmouth. I was a student in Portsmouth in the 1970's and was surprised to see the changes - it's a completely different place!

The contrast of the old station to this modern development is quite stark.

I've noticed the debating about tilted images here on TE - I was always fascinated by angled architectural shots when I lived in Portsmouth and Brighton in the late 70's - so it's interesting to find myself with a camera in my hands again and still fascinated by the same things.
