Black and White Series – 7
PINK IS FOR BOYS
I spotted this old POLYSTYRENE PUGILIST in the window of a boxing shop in Nottingham. I thought “ this is the perfect picture just SEARCHING FOR A TITLE”. I was impressed by the SCAR across his lip – that must have been some punch! So I did my very best to create a black and white image that was as punchy as I could manage, in the circumstances, to honour his obvious courage and persistence in the business. A real TITLE FIGHTER!
The most amazing thing about this old RING MASTER though was that all his gear was an intense GIRLY PINK! Not that I’m one to question his, or worry about my own, masculinity because of a shade but hey I don’t think I would feel comfortable being someone’s SPARRING PARTNER in that colour!
Things are not just that Black and White.

Oh, well seen, Kev! Very clever capture and your excellent notes bring out all the juice! And the topper is we don't see the PINK, only perceive it. Priceless! Best, Francis

Hi Kev
Beautiful B&W - the tones are lovely. The tight crop on the compo adds to the punch of the shot! Well done.

Hi Kev, what about boxing gear for GAY people, ever though about that? You're chicken you should have left the color in, although it wouldn't fit anymore in your Black and White series ;-). Girly pink! Just this morning I saw a guy on the bridge with a lovely pink shirt, ask any Italian man what he adimres most, it's the pink jersey of the 'Giro d'Italia. Girly Pink!
Nice remark about the scar...nice note overall. Well seen

Nice choice of B/W as a contrast of the REAL pink. What I noticed that his nose is perfect even though he's a boxer and he's wearing a pink mask on top of it. That leads to: he is ... But, people should not be that strait forward. The Stallone type mouth and a scar show that he is also very masculant. What a contrast. You could try to leave just the helmet pink with all other B/W. Too bad I can't see it in colour.

if i were you i would try something else as well Kev in your b/w series..what about just pink in these gears and the rest is b/w? i would do the WS for you if i knew how to do it.. LoL! visually would be more punchy i think while you still maintain your b/w..
very smart image, well done..
(i had pink periods sometimes when i was a kid i remember.. )
Bw.
