Photographer's Note
As I was leaving Nottingham station a train came into the platform opposite the stairs - suddenly the whole space in front of me was filled horizontal lines.
A compositional classic handed on a plate!

Incredible graphism. Handed on a plate but you had the photographer instinct, so bravo!

Its the contrasting mix of textures that really makes this for me - glass, metal, paint and wood. The 'feel' might have been lost in colour so b/w was a good choice. Excellent.

Kev, I love it. The patterns of the lines, the variations of grey, patternes within patterns, such a strong graphic. Simple but complex at once. Well seen.

Nice one Kev, you really have the eye for these graphic compositions.
I would never even imagine to take pictures in the railway station so it is an inspiration for me.
cheers, David

I love this graphical shot. Good mix of lines. Good choice and b&w also that brings unicity. Well done.

But so many kinds of horisontal lines! Very nice to explore, the different textures, styles and ages within the horisontal bands are just great. B&W a good choice.

Wow, this is fantastic, Kev. Very busy, gfull of lines, shapes, and very dymnamic. I like it very much in b/w, I guess that colors would amke it too busy, and breat the interesting patterns. Excellent job, I like it very much.

Very "old style". Seems like one of those photos I have seen of New York from the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Black and white gives urban photos such grit. This is truly an urban photo worth sharing.

Wonderful image and great lines! You've got some really unique shots here, and many that would be great in the BBC Picture of Britain Competition . Submissions deadline is 31 july and there are several categories that might appeal to you, ie human and urban.
