Photographer's Note

We don't always appreciate the value of freedom until it's lost. But everyone's and every nation's right to freedom is undisputable.

In case you haven't guessed, this is my tribute to the Ukrainian people. Since I have no photos from Ukraine on my laptop while away from home I'm following in Luciano's footsteps and posting a photo from my local park. Also, an image from better days from the point of view of my own personal freedom, while I'm caring for an elderly relative in the country of my origin.

Hello Kasia,
This is a beautiful photo that goes to my favourites. That's because of the view as such and the composition, the colours, light and haze, the birds, and not least for the message. The slightly blurred bird taking off into its own free space is a superb symbol for the feelings most of us share in these depressing days.

You're right. We don't appreciate the value of freedom until it has been lost or is in danger of being lost.
In many places, especially in Western Europe, we have taken peace for granted.
But that is not so obvious. Peace must be continuously worked on.
Very atmospheric picture with a clear message.

Wlasnie sobie pomyslalem ze przeciez bylas na Ukrainie no ale czasem tak jest ze juz sie wkleilo zdjecia ktore sie chcialo wkleic...
Piekna fotografa znakomicie sie nadaje na dedykacje.
Brak mi slow na to wszystko. Na szczescie tym razem swiat mowi jednym glosem. Nawet podzialy polityczne w Polsce zamilkly na ten trudny czas i wszyscy pracuja razem. Zeby tak w zgodzie pracowali zawsze.
Mam nadzieje ze Uraina wytrzyma. Teraz coraz bardziej obawiam sie ze skoro Putin zrobil juz jeden glupi ruch to moze zrobic tez i drugi... Mam nadzieje ze ktos go jednak w ostatniej chwili powstrzyma.

Hello Kasia,

This is a a wonderfully symbolic photograph, showing the free, expressive movement of the bird, completely unrestricted.
The setting sun, warm in your photograph, could represent the sun setting on the freedom of the brave Ukrainian people.
Let's hope the pressures on Putin, from most other nations, causing hardship for his own country, may have positive effects.

Morning ambience is just wonderful. Besides the message this is also absolutely beautiful photo. The flying gull is perfectly placed. "New Dawn" could be an alternative title.

Witaj Kasiu,

Piękne zdjęcie z Bushy Parku i widzimy tu kolory Ukrainy.Podobają mi sie te mewy asiedzące na wodzie i jedna, ktуra poczuła się wolna. Każdy ma prawo do wolności.
To stara prawda, że doceniamy wiele rzeczy dopiero wtedy, gdy je utracimy. Czasem prosta możliwość wyjścia na spacer jest czymś wspaniałym.
Fantastyczne te poranne mgły.
Niech zyje wolna Ukraina.

Its hard for me not to give points for this photo featuring some wonderful lights and colours and a flying bird, resulting in a perfect nature shot. In order to respect and circumvent your no points policy at the same time, I fave it.

As free as a bird, hope that this speaks for itself....we should all be free as birds. Great shutter speed and with constant focus that you were able to stop this speeding gull in mid-swoop against an enticing setting. I feel that you have achieved what you visualised at time of shoot! Certainly has impact.

So sad what is happening in Ukraine, even though it is one of the few countries in Europe I did not get to see because of visa entry requirements for Australians. A nice contrast between the single bird in flight high in the sky and the many birds on or near the water. Kudos to Poland for accepting around 1 million Ukrainian refugees! Tfs.

this image is a masterpiece! amazing hues with the birds so well places and a special mood. mix of fog and sunrise.
a nice homage to Ukrainian. a war is ever an open door to more damages, a gate to the hell on earth. =---- as it was told, everybody knows as a war begins but never how it will end.
