Photographer's Note
On arriving at the entrance to the Eden Project we were met by this piece of art; a life-sized sculpture of a horse made from driftwood.
The artist is Heather Jansch, a British sculptor.
After art college, she bought a small hill farm breeding Welsh cobs, specializing in painting traditional equestrian portraits until starting to sculpt. She later moved to South Devon.
Her life sized driftwood horses became her hall mark.
(Wikipedia)
To make these life size sculptures a large supply of driftwood is obviously necessary!
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
Ms Jansch had a great idea to create this horse, and it must have been difficult to find pieces of wood that could be used so well. Each piece looks shaped exactly for this purpose (which of course is just my imagination). The fine wooden horse was nicely displayed in a place with good light.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Jean,a very useful post, I did not know this artist and her works are really very original and professional. It seems that this is not his only horse as I read in your notes, and the class in woodworking is evident. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Jean, How cleverly made is this horse sculpture of the old wood. I have seen already similar photos, they are impressive. What an imagination the artists have :). Nice also the place where it stands, with the thick rope.
Best regards Malgo

Hi Jean,
this quite an extraordinary sculpture. I have never seen anything like that before. Very original idea indeed. I am even more surprised to hear that she created more than one such horse. May be where she lives the driftwood is arriving in large quantities?
Very interesting presentation,
M

Hello Jean You show today a 'boney' piece of art which reflects the artist's talent and patience!
If all humans were so skinny, the hospitals wouldn't need any more X-rays for diagnostic purposes!
Thanks for showing such an original artistry assembled with a raw talent. You posted a fascinating rarity.
Cheers

Hello Jean,
The artist, she is so genius! A sculpture like this, so realistic , made from driftwood. It's a 'MASTERPIECE'.
The driftwood are like muscles and bones of a strong muscular horse, as it should be.
Yeah, it's a fine beautiful picture.
I've always wanted to visit the Eden Project. I'm so glad to see it here esp this driftwood.
I would definitely like to see her making a 'Chinese Dragon Driftwood'.
Thanks for sharing this amazing artist.

Hello Jean,
I find this a very beautiful wooden sculpture! And then in lifelike size.
Also very original.
I wonder how the wood holds together in that arrangement.
Best regards, Paul

I liked the sculpture, a pity they left the sign so close, even spoiling the sculpture. I guess I have seen a similar artwork.
here in brazil we had a marvelous sculpture (a polish one who escaped from europe) he was a master with spoiled vegetable elements of destroyed forests in brazil, but his artwork was abstract. if you are interested he is frans Krajcberg.
