Low Tide, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

Photographer's Note

At low tide it is a pleasure to walk on the beach below the cliffs between Whitby and Sandsend - a distance of about three miles. Care has to be taken with timing, as walkers can get cut off from land by the incoming tide. The local rescue helicopter and lifeboats are called out regularly by SOS messages from people in difficulties.

This is a wonderful beach composition. Excellent low elevation POV shows the foreground in details. The background looks impressive with the waves reaching the sandy shore and, the walking clouds just perfectly fill in the frame. A pleasure to look at scenery. TFS !!!

The tides in England or France are fascinating. I imagine that it must happen quite often that the people are caught somewhere when the high tide is coming quickly. beautiful composition with this wooden pole and ropes. Fantastic wide beach, quite empty, what a pleasure to walk there. I recognize the ruins of the abbey on the high cliff. Wonderful picture.

You have included the wooden post and tangled ropes as such interesting, textured features in your foreground, giving a real interest to what is to follow.
The pebbly beach and long cliffs are perfect accompaniments, to this quite lonely scene.
