Photographer's Note
Looking into London - from the now demolished Wood Dean Estate in Peckham, SE15.
Like stepping stones, if one was able to leap like a giant one could hop, skip and jump from the ghetto to one of the most powerful districts on the planet - the City of London.
Taken years ago atop a grimey grey crime-ridden estate, the area is now undergoing 'gentrification'. The money is moving in and the sarf London cockneys and West Indian families that have lived here for decades are now being priced out of their own manor.
They say that is business.....

Good picture, but it's your note that really opens up the shot for us, viewers. Demolished, gentrificiation...versus the recognizable elements in the distance. All at night.
Cheers

G'day Casper.
There's something gloomy, both actually and figuratively, about the photo and the story behind it. It reminded me a bit of a PHOTO which I uploaded about 8 years ago, taken from a formerly working class enclave which is now also being furiously gentrified after a period of domination by waves of migrants. It was taken in daylight, but has some features in common with your photo, including a ferris wheel.
Your note really makes this interesting. The long exposure's worked well, aptly keeping the lights subdued and evoking the dim mood. I presume you had a tripod or held the camera against something for the duration of the exposure. Anyway, it's a welcome upload with a difference.
Regards,
Andrew
