Photographer's Note
: Sandymouth can be reached with ease via car and is only a short drive from Kilkhampton or Bude. At low tide this beach is stunning. It becomes a long open expanse of golden sand that stretches has far as the eye can see, interspersed with long finger like rock formations that have been worn away by the sea. The diversity of environments that this beach provides gives rise to a rich variety of life.

Hi Leslie
A simple but beautiful scenery
I like the sky, mix of blue and gold, and the long FG of rocks
The little waterfall at left is unfortunately hardly visible
Have a nice day, best regards

Hello Leslie ,
The thunmbnail could seem a little dark . But when we open it , we discover an outstanding picyure of brown tocks with marvrelous shapes and textures . THe composition is great , too . The horizon line is not straight , but that is not a big default here .

Hi Leslie,
That's an excellent image! Even though a bit dark on the forefront, the textures are so appealing that this darkness only invites to a closer look in order to extract details.
Best regards,

Hi dear Les
Wow, were it not for the sea here, this would be a true lunar landscape. The rocks and cliffs are absolutely fascinating and you've picked up their details superbly. I like the low light, and the exceptional management of the exposition between the foreground shades and the background light. A small cavil here: the horizon isn't straight. Do you use Photoshop? I can talk you through how to straighten if you're not sure. But this is a small pick, the rest of the photo is extraordinary.
Warm regards
Lisa

Hello Les,
This is a stunning photograph in which your wide angle lens has certainly done its stuff but not without a great deal of skill on the part of the photographer wielding it.
I'm just wondering how you managed to keep the foreground rocks so well lit without blowing out the sky and the distant view: did you use a graduated filter or do some very painstaking processing work? Or even HDR? The lighting really is wonderful.
Excellent composition, very thoughtfully done - I can just imagine you pacing up and down, left and right, with your tripod in search of just the right spot - perfect exposure, gorgeous lighting and colours and stunning depth of field and sharpness.
One of your very best, this one just has to go into my favourites!
Stunning!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I've just seen Lisa's critique - oh, dear, she just had to notice that horizon - I hadn't! It's still going to be a favourite though!

Hello Leslie,
The colours and detail in this rock are quite outstanding. There is lovely depth to the picture as we seem to be able to see so far into the distance. An excellent atmosphere.

Hello Les,
There is something fascinating and eerily beautiful about such barren landscapes. The image is very evocative, the impression created by your use of light, the rich details and textures (the glistening of the sunlight on the rock is just lovely). A very attractive composition too, draws the viewer right in.
With best wishes,
Izabela

I keep seeing pictures in your gallery that remind me of times past ! When we holidayed in North Devon we discovered Sandymouth, and it became a firm favourite. Sadly a long way from our base, and Dad wouldn't take us there so often !
But your picture shows me a view I never saw, a sunset, and those glorious rocks. I only remember the sand, and the rocks around to the right. And of course, the old man in his caravan, selling ice-creams. A real character, I recall.
I note Lisa's remark about the horizon, it is not so obvious, and your foreground is important ! But, the main bluff in the centre looks well as it is, and would be odd if correctly aligned ! Hey ho !
Duckpool slightly to the North was on our list too !

Hi Leslie,
a spectacular panorama. You've used the ultra wide angle very efficiently, lowering the point of view and then filling nicely the foreground and created a delicate perspective. The colors of the stones are beautiful.
Take care,
Emmanuel
