Photographer's Note
The original sculpture was created by Josefina Alys Hermes de Vasconcellos (1904-2005) in 1977 and titled 'Reunion', the title being changed to 'Reconciliation' in 1994. In 1995, a bronze cast of 'Reconciliation' was placed here at the ruins of Coventry Cathedral whilst another cast was placed at Hiroshima Peace Park in Japan. A third cast was placed at Stormont Castle in Belfast, Northern Ireland; and a fourth was placed at the Berlin Wall Memorial near the Reichstag building in Germany.
According to the plaque afixed to its base, this sculpture reminds us that '....in the face of destructive forces, human dignity and love will triumph over disaster and bring nations together in respect and peace'.

Hello Joseph,
Welcome to TE. You've chosen a very appropriate image for the end of a terribly troubled and divisive year. I wish you had managed to include the full arch behind the sculpture and to keep the image from being slightly skewed in the foreground. Nevertheless, the image and the note make a valuable first post.
Regards,
Mary
