Photographer's Note

Tiree is a beautiful Hebridean Island off the west coast of Scotland.

It is a little known place even among the British which means it is a wonderful place to visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The island is the sunniest place in Britain but also one of the windiest as it is far out in the sea and almost completely flat.

Tiree covers an area of 30 square miles and has a population of about 770 people. The gaelic name - Tiriodh - means "Isle of Corn" and Tiree is one of the most agriculturally productive islands in Scotland. This photo was taken from Ben Hynish which at 463ft is the highest point on the island.

Balephuil Bay is in the southwest corner of the island and is possible my favourite place in Britain.
