Photographer's Note
Dancing in the street at the 2007 Saltaire festival - my second post of this event.
In true British fashion,no-one wanted to be the first to get up and dance to the music on stage. These three lively young women 'broke the ice' and many more people, young and old, then joined them.
My WS shows another view - with further audience reaction.

A nice, clear picture, Maggie, well-composed with one dancer haloed by the arch of the door and a screen making a plain background for the others. The doubtful looks on the faces of the onlookers are interesting - but the workshop is hilarious!
Keep seeing,
Winifred

Hello Maggie,
This lovely, crowded photograph just draws the viewer in. It's wonderfully engaging. I agree that this version is preferable to the the workshop version. The subdued lighting of an overcast sky has allowed much more detail than if bright sunlight illuminated the scene, and produced stark contrasts in light and shaded areas.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Maggie,
You've really captured the contrast between the audience and the young women. The women look ready to lead the crowd, while the crowd seems to be saying 'not me' in unison. Your picture makes one really appreciate the effort the young women are making. Well done!
Cheers,
Kate

Great shot, also the WS shows that this age group knows how to have fun and that some adults don't seem particularly interested in joining them... Why not ? It's by participating rather being a mere spectator that one can really enjoy - but you tell in your note that they did so (which I could not see in the WS).
Not easy to take people in movement... I like the fun of the 3 girls and their energy !
Best,
Cath.

Maggie.
A really nice capture of a carefree moment with the dancers to the fore and the crowd in the back ground almost in a different place from each other.
Nicley seen.
Mike
