Photographer's Note
Third and last image in my short Quayside in Mono series. This shot taken from the Newcastle side of the river, shows all the famous bridges crossing the tyne. The closest the Millennium Bridge and in the distance the Tyne and High Level bridges. I converted this to mono in photoshop using the channel mixer. To get this shot i had use a nearby boat jetty to get further out into the river as to not get too much of the railings down the side of the quayside in the shot. Third in the series hope youve enjoyed viewing the stunning newcastle/gateshead quayside!

I saw the others two pictures and with this one makes a set of pictures that's are really fantastic!!!!. The light, the reflect on the water and the structures are amazing!. A like the touch of the moon. How do you make the picture looks so sharp ?
Really Great!

Hi, Nick. A vceru weel composed night shot. The arch and its reflection occupy the greatest part of the image and form a fantastic diagonal. the perspective is very good with the railing and the row of lights on the right leading the eye to the background. The aperture you have chosen gives the starlike lights, which I like very much.

Hello Nick
What a great and beautiful photo. This is a really good photo in b/w.
Its a photo were you have to look very good how the lines are running because of the mirroring. So I keeps looking at this photo, just beautiful.
Very well done!

Impressive shot. Well done B&W. So does the contrast between illuminations and shadows. Railings and lamp-posts are of fulfilled perspective. Nice POV and DOF! Also like the formation of night sky.
However the reflection on the water surface is slightly blurred. Afterall it´s a good photo.
TFS and regards,

Very, very interesting shot, Nick. I quite like it, honestly!
The b/w is rendered well and the subject is shown from an excellent POV.
The only thing that bothers me here is that the shot appears to be tilted (with an accent on 'appears'!).

Another excellent shot of this bridge! The black & white conversion is well done, giving a lot of contrast and detail. The perfectly symmetrical arch and reflection is wonderful, and the combination of curves and lines is entrancing. I can't decide if it would be better with the street light on the right cropped out, but there is no doubt that this is a superb shot!

Simply beautiful shot with gorgeous curves and reflections. The star effect around the lights is also very nice.

Hello Nick, love the fine play between the light and shadows throughout this composition! The reflected archway in the water gives the impression this is the gapping jaw of an oncoming shark about to devour its prey, with the wires forming the ferocious teeth! Also like how you included the railing next to the road as it gives it a wonderful sense of depth. TFS!

Hi Nick,
This is a much photographed view now due to the Millenium Bridge. This is an excellent example.
Your use of the Channel Mixer has been very good, but your composition is what makes it!
Cheers

Hi Nick
i just love this bridge!
I tried to make a similar shot a few years back, but i didnt bring my tripod, and everything was blurred.
But you succeeded nicely, and the B+W choice is working miracles.
