Photographer's Note
Detail from the West entrance of Bath Abbey. There are similar carvings to the left of the door, but these ones are in better condition.
Strictly speaking Bath in the Unitary Authority of Bath and North East Somerset, but that option isn't available.

Hello Keith,
There is no doubt that the details of the abbey are very crisp in your photograph and the upwards viewpoint certainly makes us feel we are ascending to Heaven.
However, I always hate to see such lens distortion on photographs so I wondered how you would feel about the 'Steps to Heaven', and their surroundings, being more more direct.
I have done a little workshop.
Thanks for sharing this,
Bev :-)

Hi Kieth
An interesting and sharp photo with a good POV but I'm inclined to go with Bev and her good workshop work on the distortion which is always a problem with this sort of view point.
cheers
Ian

Hi Keith,
Your photo attracted my attention because I have quite recently visited Bath but I am still sharing my photos from Poland taken before that trip.
I think what you mean in your note is the difference between the "unitary authority" and "ceremonial county", as listed for Bath in wikipedia:
Unitary authority
Bath and North East Somerset
Ceremonial county
Somerset
I have the same when I post photos from Middlesbrough: I use North Yorkshire although Middlesbrough is a separate council:
Unitary authority
Middlesbrough
Ceremonial county
North Yorkshire
This was quite a puzzle for me when I moved into UK.
Very original focus on the detail of the abbey,
M
