Photographer's Note
Living TV
I keep getting distracted and wandering off but finally we are back with the series from Nottingham - I'm having a real love affair with the buses in this fair city (no this isn't Maid Marion - and she's not an actor from 'Invasion' either!).
Do you ever get the sense that life is really Living TV - the edges are blurred between real drama, reportage, soap, reality TV and how people go about their everyday lives - 99% of living, all it's ups and downs and dramas is really entertainment compared to Walt Whitman's view of animals - "they are so placid and self contained"....as well as being red in tooth and claw - but watch the way a hunted animal gives up when the chase is done.
First time I've ever been told off by a poster for taking a sneaky image of a bus driver taking a break "tsk tsk you naughty photographer!" The photography police are everywhere - but not all as nice as this charming lady!
Living TV!

Im loving your poster photos Kev. You choose very stunning and iconic posters and build good compositions around them. Here I like your efficiancy of composition, the great colors and the simplicity and graphism. Its also a sexy shot.

Great shot in the poster genre, I like the way you've placed the girl and driver in the frame.

Very graphic one, but also full of humour.
Excellent, this juxtaposition of real life (the driver reading) and living TV!

hi kev, back to that town, back to your "obsession" with the large formats!
smart one, this sort of photo police i welcome, too :-))
very exciting capture, another proof of your skilled eye capable of weeding the "graphism of the moment" as i sometimes think about your works;

Hi, Kev.
I couldn't agree more with your note.
Some aspects of my life could be used for a blockbuster movie.
But that's about the same for every life, I guess.
I have a mania for numbers and I like the 656 here, almost 666 and we all know what that means.

Hey Kev. your poster/ad shots have been great, this is a good addition. Some good lines and right-angles in this one too. I really like how this vixen is scolding you for sneaking a photo (who told you off? that's crazy!). Nice work... sneak away.

Haha, love this, Kev, as well as your the last bit of your note, which makes me smile... :-)
As to the first bit, yes, maybe so, I should watch more tv to understand, to me tv is so removed from real life, so artificial (here at least) that there is not much I can sense living there. But dream, yes, I find life a bit dreamlike... having had so many of them last night, now am almost living INSIDE the same dreams, though it is already 1pm and I woke really early today.
The shot is wonderful, coy, funny, and superbly composed. It reminds me a bit of that famous shot of yours, with the Dracula on the bus... fantastic catch!

Hi Kev,
Very nice how the small window with the bus driver adds depth to the otherwise flat perspective. The spot of warm light on the newspaper and it´s reflection on the drivers face is a great detail.

Great concept, Kev! Well seen and implemented, the girl on the one hand, the bus driver on the other, oblivious of the "connection" you and the girl have!
Good capture and tight cropping to focus the eye on the important - I cloned out the bus number in a WS, if you don't mind, felt it was a bit distracting...in any case, who can be more distracting than this pretty girl, ha??

Isn't that Tyra Banks? Funny picture because she looks like she has a couple of gray lesions on her neck and face, LOL!
Great capture.
