Photographer's Note

Back in Nottingham yesterday - I don't tire of visiting the city photographically and although I was actually there on business I took a break between meetings.

It was a lovely clear, cold day - we even had snow again last night but there is an emerging spring feeling in the air. I worked this area a little before taking this one - actually the last one in the series - apart from the obvious juxtaposition I like the surreal element of the giant arm and hand to the right.....oh and I nearly forget ...Nottingham's well known grey phallus to the left.

Again a multi-layered mind riddle with lots of room for the fantasy.Nice contrasts in clothing,perfectly timed as usual.

There certainly i a fine juxtaposition in this, sort of hot and cold. I am not so sure about the arm and the people on the far left (in the picture, mind you) so I think you could use a more square format.

Careful Kev, this lady is on the way to buy these hot pink undies (or do you say "knickers"?)... or she already has them... and then the juxtaposition is gone... one never knows what is underneath. A clever shot, for sure.

its all about your "sharp" eye, phallic winter stroll in the sun, being observed and surrounded by the seducing mannequines (some with giant arms, well - giant arms seems like needed for the thing on the opposite side of this image);

Hahaha, Kev, what are all these hands doing in the foreground? A very nice contrast between life lived and presented, between ages, between warm and cold... a great catch, Kev!

You are so right. I mean there is the obvious juztaposition: yout/old age and the sexyness and lack of it that comes with each. But as ytou say the elements like the phallus, obviously relating to the model. The big arm, well, what do you think it means? I may have to ponder that a while. The aggression of beauty?

great contrasting images. I think that the sexual imagry is surrounding this older lady: The phallus, "do-NUTS", window sexyness, bare arms.

I kind of think it could be a commentary on the pervsivness of sexuality in our society, and we could look at the woman as being the last bastion of the older days. Depending on your view of today's world I guess this could be a critique or an embrace of society. Good stuff to think about.

Hi Kev,
I like especially contrast here between the model in the shop exhibition and this old, walking lady. I also like a picture of the hand on the right corner. You like to show (use) many, sometimes very different things (symbols) in Your pictures, what I like a lot. Good light work and expression of this whole scene. Look at one of my first pictures on TE:

LOL at both the grey phallus and the contrast between the half naked mannequin and the elderly matron. Great capture of daily life in Nottingham.
