Photographer's Note

INSPIRATION - breathing in the possibilities
Many abstract artists were criticised in the early days because it was assumed that their work was not based on observation - the truth of the work of many artists is that their art is much more often than not based on accute observation - even if the end result is not recognisable as such to the viewing public. Artists have advanced human thought in science, medicine, technology, psychology, architecture etc. the list is long - but artists also entertain and challenge our notions of how and what we think we are and what is acceptable at any given time.
This building along the canal in Nottingham was one of a series taken of the amazing reflections you get along this stretch.

Hi Kev.
I have nothing to say but BRAVO.
Abstracts are very hard to comment, so I leave the comment to this BRAVO!

Fantastic merging of visual and commentary. I understand that you teach, among many other things, well all I can say, is you must be one HECK of a sensei, man!
Stunning image which one would swear and keep swearing IS an abstract painting and then we read your note and we start to peer more closely and...yes..there is a building somewhere in there.
Clever stuff!

I like abstractions of all sorts. And this is no different. I like the note but would be nice if you left out the second paragrpah. Let us imagine what this is. Thats what I like about abstract art - it allows us to form our own conclusions. Anyway Kev, super work.

and i guessed it was something what could be called "reality" and now i am upset you did write the answer to this quizz, shouldn't you had done so we'd have had a lot of room for interpretations (although i has a strong feeling it was a sort of architecture);
anyhow - big bravissimo for creativity;
abstract - not so often seen from you presented so explicitely;
i like this artwork;
best, j.

So deliciuos, Kev! A truly fantastic shot, and I am happy to have guessed what it might be, although didn't know it was Nottingham. Beautiful, graphic work, a work of art in fact, I love these sort of shots very very much, as I do abstract art. Thanks Kev, this made my evening!
Good night from snowy Ottawa

Hi Kev, I have been looking for quite a while now, with amazement, as the pattern is so very nice. I really couldn't make up from the thumbnail what it was. It a very nice blending of colours. I had associations, all the time with motehr of pearl for the blue refelctions, and once that's set in your mind, it's hard to think of something else. That long, greenish line at the top is beautiful. I wonder if you have done much with your PP work?
Wishing you and your family very good Christmas days, be well, Rinie

Kev
An excellent piece of abstract work. I was looking at this image for quite long time, and wondering, what it may be! What an excellent reflection, you managed to capture hare, and so nice of you to share tour thoughts along with. Great job.

The more I looked the more I saw. But thats the intention isnt it? I saw the gem Turkish eyes, I'm not sure of the correct name, so I was a long way from Nottingham.
I am not really an abstract person, and although I wouldnt hang it in my wall, I was hapy to look into for a while and can appreciate the cleverness of the shot.

Very well captured, more like a heat wave than a canal!
BTW - thanks for the note - I always thought artists were the 'added extras' of society ;)
