Photographer's Note
Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
(Pink Floyd - comfortably numb)

I am in a dilemma with this one! I wanted to praise this image but I am afraid I may end up massaging your ego. Suffice to say, I LIKE THIS
Best Wishes

Kajel
Your choice of B&W for this image is the correct one as too is your composition where everything is balanced and equal. Plus only having one figure rather than a crown of people adds a bit of mystery to the photo

Good shot Kajal, the symmetry of the image catches the eye, and the escalators receding into the distance gives depth. B&W works well here, gives a sense or drabless, isolation.
Well done!

I'm a little unsure about this pic - on the one hand, I know it was taken some time ago, with the compact digital as opposed to the SLR you use mostly these days, but the shot itself is presented incredibly well. The symmetry is really very good (any cropping here or did you capture it this way?) and the way you show it in B&W makes the escalators look far cleaner and classier than they would in colour, with the steps in the varying tones, the glossy handrail, the matt finish of the aluminium... I'm guessing this is in the shires shopping centre in Leicester, and I doubt it's ever been displayed in such a stylish light. My critism..? Well, beyond the detail of the escalators themselves, I don't see anything of any real interest.. you have a pic (one of the first you posted I believe: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/United_Kingdom/photo338314.htm) that was taken at what looks like the same escalators, and whilst the striking detail of the escalators isnt there, the additional interest is provided by the people, one on each side, next to each other in close proximity yet seemingly oblivious to the other persons presence. Sorry, I prefer the earlier post, the inclusion of more-than-one person on the escalator tells the story of feeling a bit anonymous in our modern society(in keeping with your notes), much more so than this one.

Excellent symmetry and a good positioning of the figure on the frame. But I do sympathize with devmonkey's insightful comment. I just want to say that the perfection of the symmetry elements of this photo transcends the other aspects. IMO.

Well, I couldn't really ignore a PF title, very apt here, and there's something strange about the effect here, it's almost as thogh I can see the excalator moving. nice one.

This is not bad at all I think. YOur conversion to b&w is quite good and your timing to have the lone person on the two escalators is good as well. Personally, I would like to see a slight crop at the top so that we don't see the apex of the escalators; it would help with the impression that they go on forever. I am not sure how to avoid it, but there is a lot of moire in this photo, due mostly to all the diagonals. I think your higher contrast conversion might be working to emphasise this a bit. Not a big deal, just something I noticed. I think that shots like this have been well covered by many photographers, but when they are done well like it is here, they remain quite pleasing.

Kajal ,
Beautiful post.
I am also thinking to post something same soon.
But I am not yet convienced to post that.
Also I am looking for good title.
I took the shot but the pose of person standing is not the way I was looking for.
I am planning to go to Tokyo station where there is huge escaletor & I may get the shot the I am looking.
To get such a shot I need to very early moring.
Very well done.
TFS,
Shailendra :)

Uneasy feeling toward this one, Kaj.
You've got a lot of response about, yet you shouldn't be quite satisfied and rest upon your laurels.
You see Kaj, this is very well known theme for gazillions of young photographers.
You're no longer a 'young' photographer. You're the restless one. Experimenting one.
And the picture is good with it's boringness - no 'photography child' in there. No excitement present.
The last several post of yours are not very exciting, but they have that searching nerve within - as 'let's go guys, let's try' to hit 'em.
So, hit me Kaj, hit me hard - again.

Your series on the Belgrave Baheno is highly original and highly interesting. However, I'm a big fan of perspective and so was naturally drawn to this shot. It has great graphic qualities too and the black and white format works so well. I like this a lot.
Best wishes

i think i'd also like to see this cropped to below the windows... many meanings here, ascending to consumer heaven...

I like it.
The shot seems to contrast the symetry and the cold machine element and the human figure.
she does not seem so warm but just in this cold environment. I agree she seems numb
very nice
