'Dangerous'! Especially if you are a vole, a rat or a mouse!
These are the talons of a European Eagle Owl. A species of eagle owl that resides in much of Eurasia.

An adult will weigh approximately 2.7kg. And measure 58-71 cm. Its scientific name is Bubo bubo.

It will eat almost anything that moves! From beetles to roe deer fawns. A major part of their diet consists of mammmals - voles, rats, mice, foxes, hares etc.,
A large and ferocious bird.

It can live up to 20 years in the wild. Birds in zoological care have been known to live as long as 60 years.

This shot and the w/s shot were taken at the Rare Breeds Centre in Totnes. We were given a short introduction to some of their birds of prey, hence the strong leather gloves that our guide was wearing.
