Autumn morning, a photo from Devon, England

Photographer's Note

Out for a walk late autumn and finding new places that we hadn't seen before.
This track on the bridge led to a gate and then... who knows where.
This small river is the River Piall, a tributary of the River Yealm.
It was an extremely bright sunny day so managing the light was not easy.

Hello Jean,
The mysterious gate is a good feature of WS #1, but the main photo has the advantage of the narrow river and a better view of the stone wall, both going diagonally, so I think you made the right choice. You did well to hide the bright sun in the background in this photo and between the trees in the WS, so there are no obvious problems of exposure.

Hello Jean,

I think you instinctively went for the best photograph for your main post, where the light is kinder and you have a fine, highly textured wall dividing the scene into near thirds.
Stone walls, like this, provide so much interest, from their shapes and surfaces, to the plant life that is using them!

Hi Jean,
I am slightly photographically depressed recently with the nature being with almost no color these days. You managed to find a lovely composition and probably sticking to the shadow made the colors more pronounced. I like the effects with the sun passing between the trees in the workshops,

Hello Jean,
I like the bit of water in the middle surrounded by the old low wall and the trees. You handled the soft autumn sunlight very nicely, which created a good contrast between lit and shaded.

The moss coated wall adds dynamism and perspective to the shot. Good sharpness and shadow detail. The brook at right angles to the wall adds an alternate perspective. Tfs!

Good evening Jean,
A fine take of the creek flow under the trees shadows, gave the water a bluish hue.
maybe a wider scope of this spot would enable to show more of this beautiful area, just my opinion. Anyway, an enjoyable sight.
