Photographer's Note
After posting 36 photos (and a number of workshops) from West Africa I will catch my breath at home in Stockholm for a short while. My time machine needs a thorough check-up before I can take it for another ride.
Unfortunately I have not gone for as many photo walks as usual this summer, because of the safety measures required by the Covid problems. I still feel uncomfortable in the streets when I have to keep a constant watch over other persons to avoid coming too close to them.
But a few weeks ago I was walking in a relatively safe area when I heard the noise of garden machines from inside a small park. A number of brightly dressed men were trimming hedges and bushes, and the view from the park made it necessary to snap a few photos.
This was taken on the northern side of Södermalm island in Stockholm looking towards Riddarholmen (Knight's Islet) and the central areas. The church is the medieval Riddarholmskyrkan, formerly used as the royal burial church.
I was happy to be able to include those typical Swedish red wooden fences in the foreground.
A colleague of theirs can be seen in the WS.
I can't give you the exact map coordinates for these photos because the yellow Google man didn't come to this park. The Map: view will take you to a popular footpath just below the wire mesh. Among the visitors I have taken there are famous TE members Malgo and Kasia. Piotr was there too, but without me.

Hi Gert, I'm constantly amazed at the performance of your time machine - it seems to be more enduring than Ian's farm equipment! (a few images down the gallery). Interesting to see modern Stockholm. I see that hi-viz clothing is universal and make a good focal point. Interesting clouds towards the top of the image. Looking forward to the time machine cranking up again! cheers, Steve

Hello Gert,
I recognise the Riddarholmskyrkan from one of my older photos (not shown on TE). This church has one of the most special towers.
The red fences also immediately remind me of Sweden.
I like the composition of both photos with their different horizontal layers. The height differences in Stockholm offer possibilities for taking this kind of photo.
The workman in the WS looks a little surprised but not in the same way as the garbage collectors in your Lagos photo.
The work clothes of these men make them eye-catchers in the foreground of the panoramas.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Gert,
Yes, you need a breath as well as your time machine!
These are two fine photographs and I would have struggled to choose the main one! The two guys in high viz outfits, contained by the double fence, make a very good consolidated f/g, whilst beyond, the city rises majestically. The spire is perfectly placed in your composition.
By contrast (regarding the f/g) the single figure, makes really good eye contact, welcoming you with his hedge cutter, the spire now linking diagonally.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Gert,
Philippe

Hello Gert, there is something of interest on every level here.
The brightly coloured work clothes immediately draw us into the picture to see what the men are about, before we then see the city with a lovely variety of buildings.
The church spire points to that lovely sky. An unusual spire, quite elegant and beautiful..In the workshop picture,
I like the eye to eye contact with the single worker, he didn’t look too bothered by being in camera.
Let the time machine have a break, much as I really enjoy your archived pictures, I also enjoy
seeing views from your home country.
Kind r3gards, Jean.

Dear Gert,
What does checking-up means? Disassembly, cleaning, lubricating like in case of old cameras, or only a some automatic system check? :)
Joking apart, its a nicely composed nothing special together with the WS. Though I would have made the same decision, I'm sure I was to chose this one too.
Regarding the COVID, I just read an article, which argued that due to the Swedish pandemic policy the mortality of the old Swedish citizens are higher than in the neigbouring countries and its not because the general health and the immune-system of older Swedish people is weaker than eg. in Norway. More old people died, because more old people got infected. Some experts even called it a genocide against old people, while of course the majority hit a more sophisticated tone, when evaluating the Swedish statistics. The conclusion was that while the Swedish government wanted to keep the economy healthy, it counted the possibly high death-ration of old citizens as a collateral damage. Nevertheless, the economic gains are questionable. I'm interested in your opinion in this.
Best Wishes,
Gy

Hi Gert,
The orange clothings of the workers are an eye-catcher. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings and of the medieval Riddarholmskyrkan church. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Gert, the workers are maintaining the green space. They prune the hedges and wear the orange clothes of the same company. The tall clock tower of the church and Stockholm roofs form a pleasant background. Nice daily life picture. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Gert, You like the workers in orange almost like the ladies in red :). Difficult to believe that more than four years have past since I went there with you. I looked if I have a photo from the similar place but I don't. how you get on the other side of this fence. Not especially high, but... beautiful view. I like this lacy-like tower of Riddarholmskyrkan very much. But what is this white big roof behind it/ I do not recognize it.
Excellent. I am not so afraid about the coronavirus but I rather stay at home and rarely go anywhere.
Best regards Malgo

Hej Gert,

Hello Gert,
I looked at these photos with a view of Stockholm and some hard-working gardeners with a bit of nostalgia.
If Sweden including Stockholm had not been on the Orange list, we might have included this favourite European capital (I sometimes think I lived here in a previous life) in our travel schedule of our alternative 2020 trip.

Hello Gert,
A high ventage point for a skyline picture, which is an interesting sight in Stckholm, as you mentioned - but as a bonus you combined with the two working men over the wooden fences.
Nice captured two posts on thsi subject.

Hi Gert
A wonderful pair of "working men" photos, with fantastic views in the background in both of them. Glad that the WS guy didn't run away, having been warned about the photographer. He looks like he is posing for you.

Hello Gert,
This is a nice combination of city architecture and men at work. Their bright, orange clothes really stand out, and I like the fencing, too. It's definitely more challenging to take photo walks during these COVID times. You found a nice view to share with us, though. Stay safe!

Hi Gert.
Two fantastic views of the city from that garden, in each of them the towers of their corresponding churches, put a good touch of interest, a good day with a beautiful sky.
A nice color that enhances the image.
Very good selection for both the brightness and the sharpness of the photo.
Well seen and done. I like it.
Have a great day. All the best.
Very best regards.
Luis.
