Photographer's Note
Another nothing special taken a few blocks from my house.
I had just turned into a long, narrow street called Brännkyrkagatan, when I saw these two men painting the stone foundation of a house from the early 19th century. This is a block where one side of the street goes on a small hill above the other side. I liked the connection between their black paint and the black railing making a curve along the "hump", so I took a few photos.
I had hoped for something better than this, but I still like the black curves and their connection with other black areas.
Two alternative photos can be seen in the workshop.
For more than two months I have only posted relatively recent digital photos. Being largely confined to my apartment (not by law, but by the health authorities' strong recommendation) I have had time to make a few new scans of photos from the early 1980's, so the next time I will return to the pre-digital days.
From the map coordinates 59.31978 18.06496 the Google man will take you here. As usual a bug prevented me from entering the figures the proper way.
This url will show you the larger version:

Hello Gert,
Good choice with the wider main photo with the iron railing had a fine depth affect the scene.
Simple, and yet an old architecture well maintained, and brightly shown on picture.
Have a nice sunday,

Hello Gert,
The first thing I did after briefly seeing your three photos was to follow the lead of Google's little man - and what a beautiful little street this is - as also is the one crossing it. That split level of this street might perhaps be a bit inconvenient for vehicles and deliveries but it makes a perfect place for pedestrians.
I can understand your dilemma regarding which photo to choose as your main one: I think your choice is good but, on balance, I think I should have chosen workshop #1 in which the two painters are nicely framed by the fence and in which we can also clearly see the face of at least one of them. But I agree - your choice does give a wider view. And, of course, I like you other workshop image too - these workmen look like real professionals, taking care to lay down cloth sheets to keep stray spills of black paint off the lovely cobblestones.
Three excellent photographs of superb technical quality, very well presented, and a fine indication of the most pleasant area in which you live.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Gert, a lovely trio of shots of everyday life in Stockholm.
Of the three, I like this one the best; I like that the two men are totally framed by the rectangle of the railings.
The curve of the railings gives us a sense of the relief of the street. The buildings provide warm colours, and the windows reflect the blue sky.
Lovely work.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Gert,
The good point of having w/s, is that we can post maybes as well as certainties!
I wasn't sure what more you expected from this photograph, other than that the workmen weren't immediately obvious; but the beauty of the curved railings, set against the elegant, dressed stone facades is a work of art. I would have loved to see a lady in an elegant, blue, Victorian costume, complete with parasol, on the left thirds line, but we cannot have everything!!
Though the workmen are not pronounced here, your w/s clearly reveal their activity and are fine photographs in their own right. As a series, excellent!
Keep safe,
Bev :-)

Hi Gert,
The length of the railing is creating depth. You have captured well the action of the painters. The point of view is showing the details of the facade of the buildings. Have a nice day.

Dear Gert,
When I saw the thumbnail at first (and didn't see the location) I thought it was taken in Selmecbánya (current Slovakian name: Banská Štiavnica). There is a place called the terrace, where the road is divided into two levels and has a parapet like this. Here you can see it. I must a have a photo of it somewhere, but it was easier to link a photo from the internet.

As always, you presented a nice nothing special.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Gert, it s almost a spy photo. The two workers are painting the stone in black color and it goes well with the elegant handrail. Excellent daily life scene. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hi Gert,I don't think black was the definitive color, but rather the classic tar covering that is made to disadvantage the formation of humidity inside, however you can go to check when the virus is gone ... hehe ... the photos are all very beautiful, in fact the decorative play of the black railing has an excellent effect. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hej Gert,
De gule facader med de mørkerøde vinduer er så smukke og minder mig direkte om Sverige, sollyset var også perfekt for at fange farverne på den bedste måde. Det nymalede gelænder danner en stærk kurve der fint løber hen mod billedets hjørne.

Hi Gert
A good trio on the black theme. Is it normal to paint the stone foundations in Stockholm?

Hi Gert,
Interesting view with a photogenic perspective given by the fence and these facades. Nice sunlight and warm colors, very good detail with these workers and the black painting, original. Tfs.

hello gert, Of course, I remember well this place. I thought that maybe I posted a photo of it, but no. beautiful composition. I find the line of the black fence very attractive. They guys in black are visible but they do not catch the eye. Charming houses in the typical Sodermalm colours.
I like this wider view better than the Workshop picture. The guys on top of the hump are also nice.
Have a nice 1 May

Hello Gert,
Three excellent photos that beautifully convey the atmosphere of Stockholm.
I can imagine how long you have been weighing up to find out the main photo.
Opt for more information through a wider view or for the more artistic composition.
Sometimes I post a day later than planned due to this choice stress, as with my series today.
Excellent presentation
Be careful and stay safe, Rob

Hello Gert,
I'd go for your first picture in the WS. At least as far as the composition is concerned. However, the length of the railing in the main photo gives a lot of depth. This railing seems to continue indefinitely.
Do you also have a photo after the work of these men was done and when you had applied the white dots on it?
Best regards, Paul

Hi Gert,
Uma bela perspectiva com estes corremãos pretos acompanhado a beleza destas fachadas iluminadas pela boa luz. O belo céu azul valoriza os contrastes e equilibra a composição. Gostei muito destas fachadas.
Parabéns e bom fim de semana

Hi Gert
I would find it difficult to choose which of the three photos should be the main upload. They all have their merits. The railing is a theme in two of them - as a curved line in the foreground or a frame and disappears in the third one to give way to a purely men-after-work image.
I hope you are able to resume your photo-hunting trip around Stockholm soon.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hallo Gert This carefully-considered setup showing the decorators through their new clean work is very informative of an exercised sense of fine composition that also took advantage of a beautiful perspective. Halasnigar

Hi Gert.
Very original photos along with the two of the WS, by the way the first one seems great to me, with the vertical perspective and the steep rise of the street with the old paving, in this one it stands out above all the railing giving perspective on the descent, very nice facades.
Wonderful image, sharpness, exposure, colors and POV are excellent.
Photos very well done. I like
Enjoy a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hej Gert,
A good upward pov, & I like how the trapezoid shape of the fg fence neatly frames the bg painter blacking out the bg wall with a fresh coat of black paint. Nice warm cold colour contrasts too. Tfs!

Hello Gert,
I am not sure why one would need to paint a stone foundation, anyway. I like the repeating patterns and curvature of the fence.

MT
