Photographer's Note

Sant Vicen, a town of nearly 6000 inhabitants, is about 50 km to the east of Barcelona on the Catalunya coast; well, nearly on the coast - the old part of the town, el poble or the village, surrounding the elevated Esglsia parroquial (parish church) de Sant Vicen is a couple of kilometres from the sea and the harbour full of moored yachts, and separated from them by the motorway. The municipal authorities have done a good job of preserving the old buildings in the few streets around the church, and you can still stroll down a narrow street like this one and be completely unaware of the many modern apartment buildings on the outskirts of the old village. I seem only to visit Sant Vicen late in the day when the sun's rays slant through gaps and trees and the streets are almost completely deserted.
