Photographer's Note

Today we met 5 years of terrorist attacks in Madrid, attacks that left 191 dead and over 1,500 injured people from different nationalities and religions, people you today as every day we remember ... This image is part of the monument was done in his memory, is at the Atocha station, the purpose of slaughter, and has already received over 1,000,000 visitors, a place of absolute silence, overwhelming, a few meters from one of the attacked . For me as an empty space left in which so many lives, and a clear light that descends from the sky ... a connection to another world full of life and hope ... a truly evocative image.
I remember that day, I was on my flight to Madrid when the bomb went off, my friend picked me up at the airport, such an eerie amtosphere...
I spent the few days after the attack in Madrid and I will never forget the feeling of emptiness and at the same time, the solidarity of people.
it's a very personal way to commemorate that day and I fully agree with your take on this.

Un dнa que no olvido tampoco, tanto esto fue terrible.
Es una imagen muy bella que hiciste un lugar que se refiere al recogimiento y a la memoria. Hay que esperar que la luz alumbre un dнa todos los espнritus de los habitantes de nuestra tierra y que tales horrores no llegarбn mбs. Desgraciadamente, es por el momento todavнa una utopнa.

no puedo dejar pasar esta ocasiуn para recordar aquel fatнdico 11 de Marzo de 2004, en el que TODOS fuimos y nos sentimos madrileсos, compartiendo el dolor, la rabia y la tristeza. Tu foto ayuda al recuerdo y al sentimiento, mostrando este memorial que voy a visitar cuando vaya a Madrid, seguro.
Estoy convencido que vivir la soledad y el silencio en este lugar debe ser absolutamente sobrecogedor.

PS: lo de las fotos de flores es totalmente aleatorio, algunas las quitan y otras no. El criterio aplicado es casi como el de un бrbitro de fъtbol. La mнa quizб tampoco durarб mucho.

Beautiful, and suitably haunting, capture of the 11M memorial. I was in Madrid that day but, unlike so many, had the luck to be far from Atocha. Your choice of exposure captures those finely differentiated blues perfectly. A very fine image of a very sad place.
