Photographer's Note

SAN SEBASTIAN lies beautifully on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, some 20 km from the France-Spain border. It is also known as Donostia (in Basque) and was our first stop on our summery tour of Spain.

The city is much loved for its exquisite cuisine and most picturesque location, with no less than three wide sandy beaches in bays along the coast.

THIS PICTURE was taken during a hot stroll along one of those bays, from the raised walkway along the outstretched beach.

Some like it hot, some like it not. We love hot sunny weather, but we don't like lying about on beaches. We'd rather go walking and take snaps.

Hi Benny

Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, so I spend very little time sunbaking and more time swimming and taking snaps. And I wear a hat. This guy is already turning red. Peeling skin after a holiday is not a good look. Good colour and sharpness. Tfs!

Goedenavond Benny,

Een strandbeeld, misschien per kilo genomen.
Ik kom ook graag aan het strand, vroeger wel meer, maar daar uren liggen bakken en braden, is niet mijn ding.
Maar u maakte een mooie foto, met nogal wat contrasten.
Het zijn de figuren dat hem doen.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

The male 'corpse' will soon begin to stink, i presume, but he completes the image perfectly. But I have a sneeky feeling he's pretending dead or he might even be taking this shot while controlling the camera with his hidden mobile by wifi. LOL...Loi. I hope she remembered the sunscreen! next day could be painful. Whatever the call of lock-down, the weather still brings them out... Thank goodness.

Dag Benny,
Een onweerstaanbare scene die vraagt om stiekem gefotografeerd te worden. We zien dit niet vaak op TrekEarth maar het is zeker een plaatje dat ons weer wat meer leert over onze planeet.
Het rode hoofd van de man zal toch niet betekenen dat hij zich schaamt hier zo lui te liggen bakken in de felle zon ☀.

Hi Benny,
In your photo we can see how the fashion on the beach has changed. When I was young, men wore briefs speedo, while women covered their bodies more. Today is completely opposite.
A good observation turned into a great daily life photo.
