Photographer's Note

The Plaza de Mara Pita is one of those places where it is worth sitting down, resting and looking around us. It bears the name of a 16th-century heroine, Mara Mayor Fernndez de Cmara y Pita, known as Mara Pita, who in 1589 stood up to the English troops of corsair Francis Drake, who was commanding the Invincible Inglesa.

It forms a large rectangle of more than 100,000 square metres, on one of whose fronts is the Town Hall, while the rest are lined with large arcaded buildings.
