Photographer's Note
I know I could have posted a New Years photo, but I really couldn't find one that I liked enough for posting.
So why not just continue showing some scenes from my travels, this one being in Zaragoza in Spain, in 2019.
I also wanted to show something not so touristy, something more in the daily life realm.
This is the Monument to Justiciazgo, in the Plaza de Aragon. One of the first things you'll see when walking into the downtown area of Zaragoza.
This monument is about 10 metres tall, or about 33 feet. Its dedicated to Juan de Lanuza, who was executed in 1591. There is a long and detailed history of the conflicts in this region back in the 16th century, but its too complicated and too in depth to write a one paragraph summary here on TE.
So lets just enjoy the photo :)
I liked the way the people were all lined up, as if there was some organized group participation happening.
Hope you like it
and yes....HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Craig,
The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the monument to Justiciazgo. The black and white is giving a good contrast to the scene. Happy New Year 2022.

Hello Craig,
Modern buildings in the background of a late 16th century monument, that's what's magical about Europe.
Happy 2022,

Hello Craig,
I am really getting a bit fed up with the expected seasonal greetings kind of photos, so I appreciate this completely different B&W picture. It's not really the most beautiful monument I have seen, but the photo has a fine symmetry and I get an impression that you had told everyone where to stand and how to walk, and then you shouted: "Action"!
Happy New Year!

Hi Craig
This photo is made of many vertical elements - the monument itself, but then also the flag(?) poles and even the people! Good idea to shoot in portrait format and black and white medium enhances graphic qualities of the image even further.
Thank you for your kind words to my last upload and I wish you and your family a Happy New Year!

Hello Craig, Happy New Year.
A sharp shot that catches my eyes because of the black and white presentation. The symmetrical composition works really well too.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
I admit that I cannot remember this monument in Zaragoza.
I also don't know if I would have taken a picture of it if I passed by. But luckily, tastes differ.
Technically this is a very good picture. Good composition, much depth, clarity and sharpness are impeccable.
Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year for you and your family.

Hello Craig,
Nice B/W view from Zaragoza. I'm intrigued by the statue reaching out his hand, as if trying to get the crowd to look up, but nobody seems to notice him. It's an interesting monument, and the couple with their backs to us make a nice subject for the foreground. Wishing you and your family a happy new year! :-)

Hi Craig,
Interetsing monument. The flag behind adds some confusion and the street lighting seems as tall as the monument so I was wondering for a moment whether it is all part of the installation. Ha ha
Black and white is sometimes useful and here probably you benefited from it. The couple adds a nice romantic touch in the foreground.
I have seen recently an expression to cheer you up:
"First 40 years of parenthood are the toughest"
The truth is you never know what you get.
Also people have various approaches, We have firends who have three kids but they don't bother too much. Once for example their son broke his hand jumping off his bunk bed but since he didn't complain they noticed it after a week.
I don't like this type of approach but with higher nuymber of kids you cannot follow all of them all the time.
Another thing is, I always thought you can raise a child. That is wrong too. They come with their preferences, although boys are simpler.
So for example my daughter hates going anywhere by definition. Going out often means a long fight and after such fight I am so tired that I don't enjoy it anymore myself neither. So yes older children require less constant attention but their attitude may be not as we would hope for.
I wish you a satisfying in this respect New Year!

Hello Craig
Great and bold bl/w post from wonderful Zaragoza, different from the obvious poscard pictures from this city. Great documentary style daily life street scene kind of shot:)
Zaragoza was one of the reasons why we went on a (car) holiday to Spain last summer. The city of Goya!
Best wishes & take care!

Hi Craig,
Very impressive big monument. I wonder when it was set up. And what made him so remarkable. I guess executions were not a rare thing those days. Those posters catch my attention too. Are they about arts exhibition?
Happy New Year!

Hi Craig.
Sensational this B&W image of this monument in Zaragoza, with its sharpness it is a pleasure to visualize it, good perspective with the line of buildings on both sides, curious almost everyone walks towards the background, I only see a face from the front.
I do not know this city that I have only 3 hours by car, but I have been thinking about making a getaway for a long time.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.
P/D. Happy New Year, for you and family.
